Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Nurse to join our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). In this vital role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care during the immediate recovery phase following surgical procedures. Your expertise will ensure patients regain optimal stability, comfort, and safety as they transition from anesthesia to full recovery. Responsibilities Monitor and assess patients' vital signs, airway status, and overall condition during post-operative recovery using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Ggastro. Administer medications including IV infusions, pain management treatments, and sedation reversal agents following strict aseptic techniques. Perform physical examinations and evaluate patients' responses to anesthesia, documenting findings accurately in medical records. Respond swiftly to emergency situations such as acute pain episodes or airway compromise, utilizing skills in airway management and basic life support. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesiologists, surgeons, and critical care staff to coordinate patient care plans. Educate patients and their families on post-discharge instructions, including wound care, medication administration, and activity restrictions. Experience Proven experience working in acute care settings such as hospital medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), or Level I/II trauma centers with familiarity in trauma medicine and emergency medicine protocols. Hands-on expertise with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Ggastro is highly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in IV insertion, venipuncture, suturing, catheterization, and sterile processing techniques. Critical care experience involving ventilator management, ICU procedures, or post-operative recovery is essential. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics (Pediatrics), geriatrics (Geriatrics), behavioral health cases, or individuals with developmental disabilities enhances your candidacy. Familiarity with infection control practices, HIPAA regulations, and medical terminology ensures compliance and quality care delivery. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. Utilizes the nursing process to meet the age specific needs of the patient in all aspects of care: biophysical, psychosocial, education, safety/ environment and discharge planning Utilizes appropriate steps in the decision making process to include recognition and priority setting related to patient care and unit-based issues. Addresses issues with appropriate actions Collaborates and communicates with the interdisciplinary health care team Integrates patient rights and nursing ethics into work practice Adheres to infection control standards to reduce the risk of nosocomial infections to patient and staff. Adheres to the tenets of the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals Delegates activities to ancillary staff as it relates to the State Nurse Practice Act Adheres to the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics & Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice Supports, promotes, and practices within the WPH Professional Nursing Practice Model Sustains and advances the Magnet model Participates in the Performance Improvement initiatives Completes competency requirements Attends mandatory in-services Attends staff meetings as required/requested Utilizes cost containment practices Assumes Charge Nurse responsibility Performs other related duties as assigned No nights, no weekends, no shifts
Pay:
$30.00 - $37.00 per hour
