Job Description
American farmers have made tremendous technology advancements through hardware improvements and investments in precision agriculture. However, when it comes to the back-office, most farms are decades behind, relying on spreadsheets, filing cabinets, and decades-old on-prem software to recruit, manage, and pay their workforce. Seso is addressing this problem by modernizing the back-office for the farm. Our mission is to build the premier platform for agribusiness to hire and manage their workforce and improve the lives of agricultural workers. We are addressing American farmers' biggest pain point

Animal Breeder Sow Unit- Nursery
Finishing Compensation:
Hourly wage $18.66- Full-time The employer will provide housing for the first 60 days, and may be flexible if the employee needs to extend.

Unit Manager, Department Head Nature of Position:
Successfully carry out and understand all key process measures under in-direct supervision. Essential Functions (percentage of time spent per week): (Order of Essential Functions does not indicate the importance of Functions) Understand and demonstrate animal husbandry techniques in a sow unit. Oversee the health, growth, and development of livestock in a 7200 head Sow Unit. Including sole responsibility for the day-to-day care of approximately 750-1,000 sows. (25% of an average day) Perform artificial insemination on sows using industry-approved techniques. Provide suggestions to improve conception rates based on industry knowledge and daily observations, with the goal of achieving an 88% conception rate (25% of an average day) Evaluate the health of the herd; identify sick or injured pigs and separate them from the rest of the herd. Maintain accurate records of observed health issues and make recommendations to the Unit Manager. (15% of an average day) Diagnose diseases that infect the herd and advise on the course of treatment. Including proper documentation and administration of treatment plans and medications (10% of an average day) Keep detailed records on the number of bred animals, semen inventory, and rotation, along with any treatment records. (10% of an average) Maintain sanitary conditions of the unit. This may include sanitizing crates, making adjustments to equipment, and reporting any faulty equipment or concerns to the Unit Manager. (15% of an average day) Must take an active role in the safety program, including following safety procedures, enforcing policy, and continuing training. Provide oversight and assistance in the training and day-to-day tasks of new team members. Analyze collected data and daily observations, and present suggestions for improvement to the Unit Manager. All other related duties may be assigned.Success Factors:

Be able to lift in excess of 50lbs moving up to 100 yards daily, be able to lift 15 lbs repeatedly on a daily basis from side to side for at least 1 hour. Push and/or pull a minimum of 500 lbs in a cart with wheels when required. Squat to the floor, grip small objects with ease, and twist at least 45 degrees. Capable of repeated actions Be responsive to visible signs of animal discomfort Be responsive to verbal alarms and the sounds of animals Able to communicate orally and in writing with other employees and company contacts Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time on different surfaces, including concrete Ability to climb in and out of crates and over obstacles Climb different types of ladders, including feed bin ladders. Maintain balance on all surfaces Retain and perform written and spoken instructions Must not own or live near any swine. Must not live with anyone who has contact with swine. A minimum of 6 months of experience working with livestock. Candidates with English skills are a plus. Ability to drive is a plus.Working Conditions:
During the summer months, outside temperatures can be over 100 degrees for the entire scheduled work day. During the winter months, outside temperatures can be below zero for the entire scheduled work day. During and after heavy rains, the road in and around the farms can become extremely muddy and difficult to maneuver on. During different job duties, the noise inside or outside barns can become very loud. Posted at every site is a sign of how many decibels different duties are and when hearing protection is mandatory. Will be exposed daily to odors, dusts, and gases that may be uncomfortable or hazardous if proper procedures are not followed. Will be exposed to electrical boxes and electrical machinery that are not to be entered or repaired by those who are not certified in basic electrical training and/or Lockout/Tagout procedures. Will be exposed daily to procedures that cause contact with hazardous materials.TO APPLY
