REPORTS TO

Director of Special Education, Principal or designee

JOB GOAL

To assist students in identifying potential career interests through written career assessments in consultation with the Director of Special Education and Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR).

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Works with students, parents or legal guardians, classroom teachers, businesses and others to identify potential career interests, preferences and various job possibilities available in the community. Facilitates the referral process between the district and OVR. Coordinates student Career Assessment to identify student competencies, interests, relevant vocations (including kinds of work previously unconsidered) and learning about the impact of students' disabilities and related support needs. Completes the written Comprehensive Vocational Assessment Report and assists with development of students' IPEs (Individualized Plan for Employment- through OVR) and students' IEPs (Individualized Education Plan- through ARCs). Markets the CWTP to the community, parents/guardians and students, schools and professional organizations. Responds to community and school personnel inquiries about CWTP goals and functions. Works with employers and students to develop personalized jobs. Collaborates with classroom teachers of students participating in the CWTP about scheduling services, IEP content, task analysis of behavior or skills, standards addressed in the classroom, content of Individual Learning Plan (ILP), etc. Provides consultations for business personnel related to specific instruction and support needs of individual students, promoting instruction by those who typically provide training, and supplementing employer training as needed. Provides follow-up services to promote job stability and advancements and continuing success of students. Maintains necessary records for the local school system and the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. Keeps current and complete information regarding each CWTP student. Submits all meeting reports, monthly reports and invoices to OVR for timely reimbursements. Completes year-end program data report and submits to HDI. Provides transportation according to district's community-based instruction policies and procedures. Works collaboratively with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Kentucky Department of Education to create a unique program to address each student's expressed strengths and interests. Attends all required meetings and trainings. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree required. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities. Good written and oral communication skills. Significant knowledge of jobs in the community.

EVALUATION

Performed annually by principal/district designee.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary commensurate with District Certified Salary Schedule.
