Job Description

RN Fellow Job, Various Shifts, Orthopedics RN Fellows are offered tuition assistance for their last year of nursing school. Community Healthcare System is hiring a RN fellow for Orthopedics to work various shifts at Community Hospital in Munster, IN. The Orthopedic Department is a recently remodeled unit of primarily private rooms dedicated to the care of the orthopedic population. This unit provides 24-hour care to the orthopedic surgical patient as well as some medical/surgical patients. The unit is staffed by a supportive multidisciplinary team who work together to meet the needs of our patients. Unit based Therapy services; an Orthopedic Clinician and a Spine /Ortho coordinator provide additional support to our staff. This department has an active Unit Council that works in collaborative manner to affect change and overall improvements.
RN Fellow Roles and Responsibilities:
Learn the art and science of Nursing within the framework of The Community Hospital Department of Nursing philosophy, goals, and standards of care. Performs various designated patient care activities necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety of the patient in accordance with Hospital Policy and Nursing Service Standards. Assists patients with ADLs, ambulation, mobility, positioning, turning and lifting while maintaining all Safety Patient Care Practices. Assists patients with transfers and discharges. Assists patients with nutritional needs ie passing and collecting food trays, feeding patients, providing fresh water every shift, assist with maintenance of special diets and between meal nourishment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Current enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing in good standing. Must have successfully completed at least one semester of clinical experience which included basic nursing fundamentals in a clinical setting. Current CPR.
