This role works collaboratively with nursing leadership, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with Safe Motherhood Initiative Safety Bundles, ACOG, AWHONN, and regulatory best practices. The Perinatal Safety RN serves as a clinical expert, educator, and patient safety advocate focused on improving maternal and neonatal outcomes through education, quality improvement, safety reviews, and evidence-based practice initiatives. Key Responsibilities Serve as a patient safety advocate and clinical role model in obstetrics Lead patient safety rounds and multidisciplinary safety discussions Monitor perinatal clinical outcomes and support quality improvement initiatives Facilitate electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) strip reviews and multidisciplinary case evaluations Participate in Perinatal QA/PI committee meetings and adverse event reviews Support disclosure and debriefing processes following adverse patient events Promote reporting and review of safety events, near misses, and process improvements Conduct chart audits and provide documentation feedback to clinicians Develop and facilitate drills for obstetrical emergencies including: Shoulder dystocia Obstetrical hemorrhage Hypertension emergencies Maternal cardiac arrest Infant abduction Collaborate with educators, physicians, and nursing leadership on staff education and competency programs Ensure adherence to evidence-based safety standards and regulatory requirements Promote effective interdisciplinary communication and standardized safety protocols QualificationsEducation Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required Experience Minimum 10 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required Strong clinical expertise in obstetrics, maternal safety, and perinatal quality initiatives preferred Licensure & Certifications Current New Jersey RN License required National Certification in OB Nursing required BLS Certification through the American Heart Association required
