Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Plans, prepares and accurately executes a wide range of payroll and accounting activities. Responsible for performing payroll calculations at the end of each payroll cycle. Verifies and updates employee records as required using automated information system.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Calculates and compiles all wages/salaries, including employees working on longevity, stipends, contracts, etc., from time sheets and other records, to include hours worked, taxes withheld, insurance deductions, dues, etc. Prepares computer input forms, enters data into computer and posts deductions. Assists employees with payroll matters. Resolves payroll issues or problems. Maintains up to date employee files and information necessary to generate district payroll, including pay data, personal employee data, time records, attendance, etc. Executes and monitors payroll calculation programs and processes. Compiles payroll data from all sources, including timesheets, Personnel Action Forms, requisitions and other official records. Verifies and reconciles errors from generated reports, including overpayments, reversals and voids. Compiles and maintains all payroll data and prepares required reports. Verifies that all required employee documentation is complete. May prepare district and state reports, board reports or scheduled reports. Tracks necessary requirements related to Arizona State Retirement System. Monitors and maintains time entry system attendance and related time keeping systems for Human Resources department staff members. Maintains leave balances. Orders office and instructional supplies and maintains records of requisitions, purchase orders, invoices and inventories. Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Demonstrate general proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to operate standard office and computer equipment and payroll software programs. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Strong organizational and record keeping skills Ability to do basic mathematical computations. Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use of discretion. Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members. Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies. Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response. Produce accurate work and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent 1-year previous payroll or accounting experience Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements

The employee may be required to move ten pounds and could occasionally lift or move up to twenty-five pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor office environment. This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with staff and the public. •Internal candidates must submit a request for transfer form signed by your site administrator within 5 working days of the posting date. •$20.15/hour - 12 Month position - 40 hours/week
