Job Description
Work Schedule Comments:
Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with occasional weekends or off hours as business dictates.Position Overview:
The Safety Specialist will perform regulatory compliance and safety related tasks for the Cleveland OH terminal. The position requires interaction with company employees, independent contractors, and vendors. The position requires the specialist conduct regular in-person behavior coaching sessions with drivers as well as initial, annual, and as needed safety or regulatory compliance training. •This position is located in Cleveland, OH•Essential Job Functions:
Driver compliance and recruiting duties: Conduct and coordinate new driver orientation classes Assist in recruiting qualified Owner Operators and Company Drivers Communicate with Application Auditor to get driver applicants qualified Communicate and report applicant and new hire information to IMCC Conduct and/or coordinate CMV road tests for new drivers Responsible for DOT electronic logging (ELD) administrative requirements: Educate drivers on proper use of ELD equipment Watch for tampering/disconnecting of ELD equipment Responsible for keeping inventory of ELD equipment and ordering new equipment as needed Install, maintain, and remove on-vehicle ELD and camera hardware Assist with all aspects of safety compliance: Employee first report of injury contact for the division Address HOS violations same day Receive and process (notify drivers) of IMC random drug/alcohol test notices Respond to and investigate local IMC and report to Risk Mgmt. services Assist with vehicle maintenance monitoring, documentation collection and repair confirmation Inspect Equipment for our preventive maintenance program (In-House Inspection) Review and coach on-vehicle camera events Facilitate a safe working environment through hazard recognition and risk mitigation (OSHA)Additional Responsibilities:
Responsible for ongoing and corrective action driver instruction Assist with Driver Safety Awards Presentations Apply/remove commercial truck markings according to IMC standards Monthly Maintenance reports Coordinate with third party vendors to effect repairs to company vehicles or chassis Other duties as assignedJob Requirements:
Proficiency in verbal and written communication Ability to conduct CMV driver safety and operations instruction and training Good knowledge of FMCSR Good understanding of FMCSR part 395 - Hours of Service of Drivers Ability and desire to promote IMC to potential CMV drivers Knowledge and understanding of truck maintenance and repair Willing to complete additional required training to improve job knowledge or skills Requires indoor and outdoor activities, to include accessing commercial motor vehicles and prolonged sitting or standingSimilar remote jobs
