- Austin / Pflugerville, Texas Part-Time or Full-Time | 20-40 Hours per Week | Flexible Schedule About the Opportunity Longhorn Eye Care is a growing ophthalmology practice seeking an outgoing, motivated, and highly personable individual to join our team in a business development and referral outreach role .
Our ideal candidate is:
Outgoing, personable, and comfortable starting conversations with new people Naturally relationship-oriented and able to build rapport quickly Motivated by goals, results, and measurable success Persistent and comfortable following up without being overly aggressive Professional and polished when interacting with physicians and medical-office staff Organized and dependable Comfortable working independently and spending time outside the office Coachable and interested in learning from an experienced healthcare business-development professional Able to communicate clearly and confidently in person, by phone, and by email Interested in developing a career in sales, account management, healthcare marketing, or business development Experience Previous experience in sales, account management, business development, physician relations, medical-device sales, pharmaceutical sales, hospitality, recruiting, customer-facing healthcare, or another relationship-driven field is a plus. However, we are willing to train an exceptional candidate who has the right personality, work ethic, and motivation to succeed. Prior ophthalmology experience is not required. Schedule We are flexible regarding the structure of this position and are open to either:Part-time:
approximately 20-30 hours per week , orFull-time:
up to 40 hours per week Some of the work will take place at Longhorn Eye Care, while a significant portion of the role will eventually involve visiting referral practices and developing relationships throughout the greater Austin area. We anticipate a September 2026 start date . Ideally, the successful candidate will begin several weeks before our expanded business-development program begins in early October. This introductory period will allow the candidate to learn our practice, our services, our patients, and how we work with referring providers before transitioning more heavily into outside outreach. Why This Role Is Different This position offers the opportunity to work directly with the physician-owner and an experienced ophthalmology business-development executive while learning how a growing independent medical practice develops its referral network. For the right person, we want this to become more than simply a "marketing job." We are looking for someone who can develop into a trusted account executive and physician-relations professional , take ownership of referral relationships, and play an important role in the continued growth of Longhorn Eye Care. There is significant opportunity for the responsibilities of this position to expand based on performance and demonstrated ability. About Longhorn Eye Care Longhorn Eye Care is an independent ophthalmology practice serving the greater Austin area. We provide comprehensive medical and surgical eye care with a particular focus on cataract and refractive surgery. As our practice continues to grow and expand into additional communities, developing strong, long-term relationships with referring healthcare providers is an important part of our strategy.
