Job Description

Hamilton Memorial Hospital District has an immediate opening for a full-time Patient Account Follow-up Specialist. At HMHD our mission is to enhance the delivery of healthcare to our community and the surrounding area by providing accessible quality healthcare services. HMHD utilizes the premier electronic medical record system EPIC with My Chart as an amenity for patients and staff.
JOB SUMMARY
The Patient Account Follow-Up Specialist oversees insurance claim follow-up activities, working directly with providers and insurance carriers to resolve unpaid or denied claims. This position also prepares appeals, maintains accurate patient information, supports registration activities, and works closely with billers to ensure timely claim resolution. The specialist serves as a key contact with our clearinghouse and assists with troubleshooting and support issues when needed. In addition, the role provides support on special projects assigned by the Revenue Cycle Supervisor. Through proactive account follow-up and collaboration across departments, this position plays a critical role in improving revenue cycle performance and patient account management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Training and Experience:
Must have good public relation skills and interact with people well. Previous Medical office experience preferred. Works well in an environment with firm deadlines; results-oriented. Perform multiple tasks effectively. Able to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong analytical skills are required. Capable of making timely, independent decisions. Detail-oriented and ability to prioritize work. Must maintain patient confidentiality and information per policy and procedures. Must be dependable, trustworthy & flexible.
Job Knowledge:
Basic typing & computer skills are necessary. Basic knowledge of insurance, CPT, HCPC and other billing terminology are necessary.
