Client Logistics Representative Description The Client Logistics Representative supports day-to-day freight management and logistics operations for assigned customer accounts. This role serves as a key point of contact between the company, the customer, and carrier partners to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective transportation solutions. This position works closely with Customer Logistics Managers, internal team members, and external partners to coordinate shipments, resolve service issues, and deliver high-quality execution in line with customer expectations and company standards. Duties and responsibilities Essential duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Customer Service and Relationship Management Build and maintain strong working relationships with assigned customer accounts, ensuring high-quality service and communication. Consistently deliver professional communication, respond promptly to inquiries, provide timely updates, and proactively resolve issues to meet customer specifications and expectations. Collaborate with customers to align shipping schedules, address exceptions, and improve overall supply chain efficiency. Escalate to internal leadership on problem loads and the actions that will or have been taken. Transportation Coordination and Execution Coordinate all aspects of customer freight, including inbound, outbound, and and/or imported products to plants/distribution centers/consignee. Optimize and manage route and load planning to reduce cost and maximize efficiency. Schedule appointments with shippers, consignees, and carriers; ensure timely and accurate load updates within the Transportation Management System (TMS ) . Manages shipment progress, tracking compliance, and ensure carriers meet pickup, transit, and delivery requirements. Initiate and investigate the documentation process for product overages, shortages, and damages (OS&D). Performance Management and Continuous Improvement Leverage key performance metrics to monitor service performance, identify trends, and drive improvements in cost, on-time performance, and communication. Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining workflows and enhancing customer satisfaction. Financial and System Accuracy Maintain accurate financial data within the TMS throughout the shipment lifecycle. Work closely with internal teams to ensure data accuracy, resolve issues, and reconcile billing and accounting discrepancies. Ensure all updates, rate changes, and load notes are entered correctly and in a timely manner. Other Responsibilities Provide after-hours or weekend support as needed to meet customer expectations. Perform other duties as required and assigned to support team and company objectives. Qualifications Qualifications to perform the job successfully include:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Experience:
1-3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations preferred. Prior experience in a customer-facing or operations support role is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, carriers, and internal teams. Detail-oriented and highly organized, with strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities. Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (MercuryGate preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to interpret shipment data and use metrics to drive performance improvements. Strong sense of urgency and accountability in managing time-sensitive shipments and customer requirements. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative, fast-paced team environment. Working conditions This position is performed in a general office setting.
