Position Summary The Retirement Plan Relationship Manager serves as a primary point of contact and trusted resource for assigned retirement plan clients. The role is responsible for managing client relationships, supporting plan governance and fiduciary processes, coordinating with recordkeepers and other service providers, and helping clients address plan design, investments, compliance, and participant needs. The ideal candidate has strong retirement plan knowledge, excellent relationship-management and presentation skills, and the ability to manage multiple client relationships and priorities while delivering proactive, high-quality service. Key Responsibilities Client Relationship Management Serve as the primary day-to-day contact and trusted resource for assigned retirement plan clients. Develop and maintain strong relationships with plan sponsors, executives, Human Resources professionals, CFOs, investment committees, and other key client contacts. Understand each client's objectives, organizational structure, workforce demographics, plan design, service model, and unique requirements. Provide proactive and responsive client service, anticipating needs and identifying opportunities to improve the client experience and retirement program. Monitor outstanding client issues and deliverables and coordinate with internal teams and external service providers to ensure timely resolution. Maintain regular communication with clients regarding plan activity, regulatory developments, investments, and other matters affecting their retirement programs. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior-level Relationship Managers. Plan Governance, Fiduciary & Compliance Support Serve as a resource to clients on legislative, regulatory, fiduciary, and compliance matters affecting retirement plans. Assist plan sponsors in establishing and maintaining appropriate plan governance practices and understanding their fiduciary responsibilities. Review plan documentation and identify potential compliance, operational, or administrative issues. Monitor plan documents, amendments, notices, and related materials for accuracy and completeness. Coordinate with internal resources, recordkeepers, third-party administrators, and other service providers to address plan compliance and operational matters. Plan & Investment Consulting Participate in retirement plan review and investment committee meetings. Assist in evaluating plan fees, investment options, plan design, participant services, and overall plan effectiveness. Work with recordkeepers and other service providers to confirm plan data, demographics, reporting, and other required information are accurate and complete. Identify opportunities to improve plan structure, participant outcomes, operational efficiency, and fiduciary processes. Coordinate with investment managers, recordkeepers, third-party administrators, and other service providers as appropriate. Client Meetings & Presentations Prepare for and participate in periodic client and investment committee meetings. Present retirement plan recommendations, investment information, regulatory developments, and service updates in a clear and professional manner. Develop and coordinate client presentations, investment reviews, benchmarking analyses, and other meeting materials. Business Development & Firm Growth Participate in finalist presentations, prospect meetings, and other business-development activities as requested. Represent the firm professionally at client meetings, industry events, and other business-development activities. Support client retention and growth of the firm's retirement plan practice through strong relationship management and service. Operational & Administrative Responsibilities Maintain accurate and complete client records and documentation. Follow established firm processes, procedures, and protocols. Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and ensure projects and client deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule. Assist with special projects and other initiatives supporting the operation and growth of the retirement plan practice. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field preferred. Experience in retirement plan consulting, retirement plan administration, investment consulting, financial services, or a related field. Strong understanding of 401(k), 403(b), nonqualified, and defined benefit plans, as well as the broader retirement plan industry. Working knowledge of ERISA, Department of Labor and IRS requirements, fiduciary responsibilities, and retirement plan compliance. Strong client-service and relationship-management skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with executives, senior management, plan committees, service providers, and other industry professionals. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Self-motivated, proactive, and resourceful, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. High degree of professionalism, sound judgment, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to take ownership, exercise initiative, and follow responsibilities through to completion. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word. Familiarity with Salesforce, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other client relationship and collaboration platforms. Ability to travel as needed for client meetings, industry events, and other business-related activities. This is an in-office position based in Red Bank, New Jersey.
