We feature stories about local businesses, influential residents, community leaders, families, and organizations while helping our advertising partners build meaningful connections within the community. We are looking for an outgoing, highly organized, and motivated Publication Director to work closely with the Publisher and help grow and support our local business partnerships. What You'll Do Business Development & Appointment Setting A key part of this role is helping us connect with new local businesses and grow our network of advertising partners. Research and identify prospective advertising partners in Arvada and surrounding communities. Reach out to local businesses through phone calls, email, social media, and other prospecting methods. Introduce Arvada City Lifestyle and start conversations with prospective partners. Schedule qualified meetings for the Publisher. Consistently follow up with prospects and help maintain a strong pipeline of potential partners. Keep organized records of prospects, outreach, appointments, and follow-ups. You are not responsible for closing advertising contracts. Your primary responsibility in the sales process is identifying strong prospects, creating opportunities, and scheduling qualified appointments for the Publisher. Client On-boarding & Relationship Management Once a new advertising partner joins the publication, you will help ensure they have a smooth on-boarding experience and receive ongoing support. Guide new partners through the on-boarding process. Help clients set up and optimize their digital business profiles. Communicate important advertising and publication deadlines. Educate partners on available tools and opportunities. Answer client questions and provide ongoing support. Help maintain strong, positive relationships with our advertising partners. Financial & Administrative Support Responsibilities will also include: Reviewing Accounts Receivable reports and following up on outstanding payments. Sending friendly payment reminders when needed. Keeping the Publisher informed of outstanding items, deadlines, and potential issues. Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Friendly, confident, and comfortable talking with business owners. Comfortable making outbound calls and initiating conversations with people they don't already know. Highly organized with strong time-management skills. A strong communicator by phone, email, and in person. Self-motivated and comfortable working independently. Persistent and comfortable following up with prospective businesses. Detail-oriented and proactive. Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Comfortable using spreadsheets, CRM systems, email, and digital communication tools. Interested in local businesses and becoming involved in the community. Experience in sales, business development, account management, customer service, marketing, hospitality, events, community relations, or advertising is helpful. Publishing experience is not required. Training on our systems, publication processes, and client on-boarding will be provided. Local Presence We are looking for someone who lives in Arvada or a nearby community such as Golden, Westminster, Wheat Ridge, or Lakewood. Much of the prospecting and administrative work can be completed remotely; however, this is a locally focused position. The Publication Director should be available for occasional local business visits, partner meetings, and community events. Schedule & Growth This independent contractor role will start at approximately 20-30 hours per week , with the opportunity to grow to approximately 35-40 hours per week as you become established in the position and take on additional responsibilities. The schedule offers flexibility, although regular availability during business hours is important for prospecting, communicating with local businesses, scheduling appointments, and supporting our advertising partners. We're looking for someone who is excited to grow with the publication and take greater ownership of the role over time. Compensation $17/hour + performance bonuses In addition to hourly compensation, the Publication Director has the opportunity to earn bonuses for generating qualified appointments that turn into new advertising partnerships.
