Athletics and Student Life Student Work-Study Assistant

Position Summary
The Athletics and Student Life Student Work-Study Assistant will provide support for athletic events, Student Life activities, and other special events on campus. This position assists with the preparation, execution, and breakdown of events to help ensure a smooth and positive experience for participants, spectators, students, and staff.
This position requires flexibility, as students may be scheduled to work evenings, nights, weekends, and special events based on the athletic and Student Life calendars.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Assisting with the setup, execution, and breakdown of athletic events and Student Life activities.
Providing game-day support for athletic events, including:
Gatekeeping and ticket collection
Scoreboard operations
Game clock operations
Assisting with event setup and cleanup
Directing spectators and providing general customer service
Assisting athletic staff with other game-day responsibilities as assigned
Assisting with evening and special events organized through Student Life.
Helping with the setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, equipment, decorations, and other event materials.
Assisting with student engagement activities and special campus events.
Providing a welcoming, professional, and positive experience for students, spectators, guests, and campus visitors.
Following all Thomas University policies and procedures.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
Work schedules will vary based on athletic contests, Student Life programming, and special events. Students must be available to work a flexible schedule, which may include:
Evenings
Nights
Weekends
Athletic events
Special events and campus activities
Hours will be scheduled in accordance with the student's Federal Work-Study eligibility and departmental needs.
Qualifications
Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study or student employment through Thomas University.
Must be currently enrolled as a student at Thomas University.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Dependable, responsible, and punctual.
Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks.
Ability to work in a fast-paced event environment.
Previous experience with athletic events, scoreboards, game clocks, or event operations is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
The position may require the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, assist with event setup and breakdown, and lift or move light to moderate equipment and materials as needed.
Additional Information
This position provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in athletic event management, game operations, Student Life programming, customer service, and campus event coordination. Students may work across multiple areas depending on the needs of the University, including athletic competitions, Student Life events, and other special campus activities.
