Description:
The Marketing Coordinator supports St. John Center's communications and marketing efforts by creating engaging content that increases awareness of our mission, programs, impact, events, and opportunities to get involved. The position's primary responsibilities are social media management, content creation, graphic design, website content, and email communications. The Marketing Coordinator works closely with the Director of Mission Advancement and other staff to tell St. John Center's story consistently and effectively across digital and print platforms.
Responsibilities:
Social Media & Content Creation Manage St. John Center's social media accounts and maintain a consistent content calendar and posting schedule. Develop engaging content highlighting St. John Center's programs, impact, clients, staff, volunteers, donors, partners, events, and community involvement. Write and edit social media posts, short stories, event promotions, calls to action, and other marketing copy. Work with staff across programs to identify stories, photos, updates, and content opportunities. Capture photos and basic short-form video content for social media and digital communications. Schedule and publish content across St. John Center's social media platforms. Monitor engagement, messages, and comments and route inquiries appropriately. Track basic social media performance and identify opportunities to improve reach and engagement. Graphic Design & Brand Management Create digital and print materials using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design platforms. Design social media graphics, flyers, invitations, event materials, signage, presentations, email graphics, sponsorship recognition, and other marketing collateral. Adapt existing templates and designs for campaigns, programs, events, and organizational needs. Maintain consistency with St. John Center's visual identity, voice, and brand standards. Maintain an organized library of photos, logos, templates, graphics, and other marketing assets. Coordinate with printers and outside design vendors when needed. Website Management Maintain and regularly update content on St. John Center's website. Create and update pages for programs, events, campaigns, volunteer opportunities, donation needs, news, and organizational information. Ensure website information is current, accurate, accessible, and consistent with St. John Center's messaging. Create basic campaign and event landing pages using existing website tools and templates. Monitor basic website analytics and provide updates on traffic and engagement. Coordinate more complex website development or technical issues with outside vendors as needed. Email Marketing and Digital Communications Create, format, schedule, and distribute email communications, including newsletters, event promotions, fundraising messages, program updates, and community communications. Maintain organizational email templates and ensure consistent branding. Assist with audience segmentation and scheduling of email communications. Proofread and test emails before distribution. Monitor basic email performance, including open rates, click-through rates, and engagement. Support the implementation and maintenance of established automated email journeys and communication workflows. Assist the Director of Mission Advancement with testing and improving automated communications. Coordinate with outside partners or platform support when advanced automation or technical expertise is required. Campaigns, Events & Mission Advancement Support Develop marketing materials and promotional content for fundraising campaigns, special events, volunteer initiatives, and community engagement activities. Support event communications, including invitations, social media, email, website content, signage, sponsorship recognition, and event materials. Attend select St. John Center events and activities to capture photos, video, and stories. Collaborate with the Development Coordinator on communications related to volunteer opportunities and in-kind donation needs. Work with the Director of Mission Advancement to maintain a coordinated annual marketing and communications calendar. Perform other marketing and communications duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, graphic design, or a related field preferred; relevant professional experience may substitute for education. Experience creating content for professional or organizational social media. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Experience with Canva or another graphic design platform. Comfortable learning and working with website and email marketing platforms. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively with staff across different programs and departments. Comfortable interacting with clients, volunteers, donors, community partners, and staff. Commitment to communicating about people experiencing homelessness with dignity and respect. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in nonprofit communications or marketing. Experience managing organizational social media accounts. Experience with email marketing platforms. Experience updating a website through a content management system. Experience with basic photography and video editing. Familiarity with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite. Familiarity with marketing automation or automated email journeys. Physical and Scheduling Requirements Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods. Ability to move throughout St. John Center facilities and community locations to gather content. Ability to occasionally lift and carry marketing or event materials. Some evening and weekend availability is required for events and special activities.
