The Director of Sales & Marketing leads group, catering, and transient sales and owns the hotel's marketing plan and local brand presence. The role The Director of Sales & Marketing owns the hotel's commercial strategy and results. You will build and lead the sales team, set the annual sales and marketing plan, and drive group, corporate, catering, and negotiated business. You also direct how the hotel shows up in the market: brand standards, digital presence, campaigns, and third-party vendors. This is a hands-on leadership role: you sell, you market, and you are responsible for the forecast. What you will do Own the sales budget, monthly forecast, and pace for group rooms, catering, and banquet revenue. Build and execute the annual sales and marketing plan by segment: association, corporate, SMERF, government, and social. Prospect, conduct site tours, negotiate, and close group and catering business. Maintain a personal account list. Lead, hire, and develop sales managers and coordinators. Set goals, review calls and proposals, and run weekly sales meetings.
Direct property marketing:
brand look and message, website and social content, email and paid campaigns, collateral, and public relations. Manage marketing vendors and the brand marketing toolkit. Track campaign spend against room nights and catering revenue. Partner with the General Manager, Revenue Management, and Conference Services on pricing, inventory, promotions, and event execution. Manage the Delphi (or equivalent) database, definite and tentative pipeline, and contract standards. Represent the hotel with the CVB, brand sales and marketing offices, and local demand generators. Monitor competitive set, market share, booking windows, and channel mix, and adjust sales and marketing deployment by segment. Control the sales and marketing department budget and participate in monthly financial reviews. What you bring 5+ years of hotel sales experience, including 2+ years as a Director of Sales & Marketing, Director of Sales, or Senior Sales Manager at a full-service hotel. Proven production at a property of similar size, ideally 200+ rooms and 10,000+ sq ft of meeting space. Experience directing property marketing or managing an agency and brand marketing programs. Experience with a major brand (Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, or IHG) preferred. Phoenix market relationships are a plus. Working knowledge of Delphi or a comparable sales system, contract negotiation, and revenue management basics. Record of leading a sales team and hitting group and catering goals. Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience. Compensation and benefits Base salary $110,000-$140,000, based on experience.
