Job Description
Director of Sales (Select-Service / Limited-Service Hotel) Position Summary The Director of Sales is a player-coach role responsible for driving top-line revenue through direct, hands-on selling. In a select-service or limited-service environment, this position serves as the primary sales driver, focusing on generating corporate, group, and small meetings business while maximizing use of limited meeting space and food & beverage offerings. Key Responsibilities Personally generate the majority of new business through proactive outbound sales efforts, including cold calls, site visits, and networking Conduct daily outside sales calls and local prospecting to build a strong pipeline of corporate and group leads Develop and grow negotiated corporate accounts, local business travel, and small-to-mid-size group segments Drive meeting room revenue by actively selling to companies for trainings, board meetings, and small events Package and upsell food & beverage offerings (e.g., coffee breaks, breakfast, boxed lunches) to increase total revenue per group Respond quickly to RFPs and inquiries, converting leads into booked business with a strong focus on closing Maintain a high level of client interaction, including site tours, relationship-building, and repeat business development Track all sales activity, pipeline, and account production using CRM and property management systems Work closely with the General Manager to adjust pricing and sales strategies based on demand and market conditions Ensure smooth handoff and execution of group business with operations, often staying involved through the event Participate in local networking groups, chambers, and business associations to generate leads Performance Expectations Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly revenue and production goals Maintain a consistent volume of weekly sales calls and client appointments Achieve strong conversion ratios from lead to booking Grow repeat and referral business within the local market Increase total account value through rooms, meeting space, and F&B upselling Qualifications 2+ years of hotel sales experience, preferably in select-service or limited-service properties Proven track record of individual sales production and closing deals Strong ability to work independently in a highly accountable role Local market knowledge and ability to quickly build a book of business Key Skills Proactive prospecting and pipeline development Closing and negotiation Relationship-driven selling Time management and organization Working knowledge of small-scale food & beverage sales tied to meetings Work Environment Highly self-managed and performance-driven role Lean team structure with minimal administrative support Regular local travel; significant time spent outside the hotel generating business Compensation Bonus opportunities tied to total revenue Standard benefits and brand-related travel discounts We are an Equal opportunity employer.
