Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Business Development at Victory Field Operations is the senior sales leader responsible for driving new revenue growth, building and managing VFO's sales pipeline, and converting high-value prospects into signed clients across the company's priority industries and service lines.
ABOUT VICTORY FIELD OPERATIONS
Victory Field Operations (VFO) is a national field operations firm that turns high-stakes strategy into measurable outcomes through accountable execution, field intelligence, and disciplined operations at scale. VFO serves campaigns, corporations, and organizations across a range of specialized service lines including ballot access and petition management, corporate and field intelligence, campaign and field programs, public affairs and advocacy, and data center intelligence. Built on integrity, driven by victory, and defined by excellence, VFO operates by a simple conviction: field wins races.
SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
New business revenue is growing consistently quarter over quarter, with a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities at every stage and a disciplined sales process that moves prospects toward signed agreements without stalling. VFO is proactively generating its own opportunities through targeted outbound prospecting, strategic relationship development, and purposeful conference and event engagement rather than relying on inbound interest alone. HubSpot reflects an accurate, current, and fully managed pipeline at all times, giving executive leadership reliable visibility into sales activity, expected revenue, and upcoming decisions.
OBJECTIVES
Own and execute VFO's business development and sales strategy, maintaining full accountability for new business revenue goals across all service lines and priority markets. Conduct proactive outbound prospecting to priority organizations, decision-makers, and strategic partners, creating opportunities rather than waiting for inbound leads to arrive. Build and manage VFO's sales pipeline in HubSpot, ensuring every qualified opportunity has a clearly defined stage, estimated value, next action, owner, and expected close timeline. Lead prospects through VFO's sales process from initial engagement through commitment and transition to contracting, maintaining momentum and driving opportunities toward a clear decision. Develop high-quality proposals in coordination with Operations, Finance, and executive leadership, ensuring proposals accurately reflect the prospect's scope, objectives, and desired outcomes. Identify decision-makers, influencers, procurement requirements, and potential obstacles to closing, and develop specific closing strategies for high-value opportunities. Build and maintain strategic relationships with prospective clients, referral sources, and industry influencers across VFO's priority industries, including political, corporate, and public affairs markets. Represent VFO professionally at conferences, industry events, and business development opportunities, working in partnership with Marketing to ensure every major event has a defined strategy and measurable objectives. Identify new markets, industries, and service applications where VFO capabilities can generate revenue, and work with executive leadership to prioritize expansion opportunities. Facilitate complete and accurate handoffs from the sales process into contracting and operations, ensuring Legal, Operations, and executive leadership have full visibility into scope, pricing, timelines, and client commitments. Develop sales reporting and performance metrics, providing regular pipeline and revenue forecasting to the CEO and escalating significant opportunities or risks requiring executive involvement. Build and continuously improve VFO's sales systems, workflows, and standards, creating a repeatable and scalable sales process capable of supporting the company's growth objectives.
COMPETENCIES
Operates as a fundamentally proactive revenue generator who creates opportunities through disciplined outbound effort and strategic relationship development rather than waiting for business to come in. Builds relationships with senior executives, political leaders, and corporate decision-makers with credibility and confidence, converting meaningful relationships into long-term revenue opportunities. Manages complex, high-value, and longer-cycle sales opportunities with patience and persistence, maintaining momentum without losing sight of the closing objective. Understands consultative and solution-based selling, asking effective questions to uncover the actual business problem behind a prospect's initial request and positioning VFO's capabilities accordingly. Maintains exceptional follow-through on all active opportunities, preventing qualified pipeline from going stagnant due to lack of communication or action. Uses HubSpot with discipline as the authoritative source for all pipeline, sales activity, and forecasting information, keeping records current and accurate at every stage. Coordinates internal resources across Operations, Finance, Legal, and Marketing without surrendering ownership of the sales process or creating confusion about accountability. Thrives in a fast-moving, high-accountability environment where success is measured by revenue generated, opportunities created, and deals closed rather than activity volume alone.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Political Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience in a senior sales or business development role will be considered. Minimum 5 years of business development or sales experience required, with a demonstrated track record developing and closing new business across complex, high-value opportunities in political, corporate, or public affairs environments. Proficiency in HubSpot CRM required for pipeline management, sales activity tracking, and revenue forecasting; experience managing proposals, pricing, and coordination with legal and operations teams in a high-stakes sales environment strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to build strategic relationships with senior decision-makers, operate independently in a high-accountability environment, and manage frequent travel across the United States required; Michigan residency required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods managing pipeline activity, CRM records, proposals, and sales communications across multiple active opportunities simultaneously. Must be able to travel frequently throughout the United States, including recurring travel to Washington, D.C. and Arizona, with occasional travel required on short notice and availability during evenings and weekends as business needs require. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential requirements of this role.
COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY
As an equal opportunity employer committed to meeting the needs of a multigenerational and multicultural workforce, Victory Field Operations recognizes that a diverse staff, reflective of our community, is an integral and welcome part of a successful and ethical business. We hire local talent at all levels regardless of race, color, religion, age, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability, and actively foster inclusion in all forms both within our company and across interactions with clients, candidates and partners.
