The Land Use and Agribusiness Director will serve as a vital member of the NCFB Regulatory and State Government Relations (RSGR) team, with a focus on land use concerns, farmland preservation, local, state and national taxation concerns, property rights, NCFB policy development and other issues as assigned.

Position Skills and Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree required, with an educational focus in public policy or environmental concentration preferred. 2. A minimum 5 years of experience relevant to the focus areas of the stated Job Function required. 3. Experience in relevant industry coalition building, significant policy implementation and networking with numerous external stakeholders and influencers required. 4. Prior involvement with agricultural non-profit, governmental or private industry organizations preferred 5. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) or comparable programs. 6. Aptitude for strong interpersonal communication (verbal and written). Well-developed public speaking abilities required. 7. Ability to work collaboratively with RSGR team members, the NCFB Federation Legal, National Legislative, Communications and Field Services employees, as well as American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) staff. 8. Must have the organizational skills and flexibility to multitask efficiently across disciplines, handling time-sensitive projects while maintaining attention to detail and internal and external relationships. 9. Capacity to understand and evaluate organizational policy in context with relevant legislation and regulations. 10. Respond to current policy issues by creating comments, organizational statements or by taking other appropriate actions. 11. Position based at the Home Office in Raleigh, with travel as required. Ability to attend evening and weekend meetings and events with overnight stays. Must have a valid NC driver's license that is not restricted to daylight hours only.

Responsibilities:

1. Serve as NCFB's lead advocate in assigned areas of responsibility and interact with public officials, especially within non-profits, institutions and regulatory agencies at state and federal levels. 2. Keep the RSGR Manager, Assistant to the President and President apprised of important issues affecting areas of responsibility. 3. Act as NCFB's liaison with relevant groups engaged in related policy, academic institutions and industry organizations. 4. Have knowledge of and actively seek ways to advance NCFB and AFBF policies. 5. Work with NCFB advisory committees to identify issues of concern and areas to consider for policy development. 6. Engage with AFBF and external groups and advisory agencies on current policy matters. 7. Other duties as assigned.
