Job Description

The Opportunity This is a newly created sales leadership opportunity for a hospitality professional ready to take ownership, build business, and make a measurable impact. You'll lead the sales strategy for two established full-service hotels in the State College / Happy Valley market, positioning each property on its own strengths while unlocking opportunities across the combined portfolio.
The goal is straightforward:
grow profitable revenue, strengthen the sales culture, and position both properties to win more of the right business. We are looking for a hands-on sales leader who enjoys opening doors, developing relationships, coaching a team, and turning opportunities into profitable business. You will have meaningful influence over occupancy, group room production, negotiated accounts, meetings, weddings, banquets, events, and other revenue opportunities across both properties. This is not a sit behind a desk-only leadership role. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategy, team development, and active selling. You'll lead the sales effort while staying connected to clients, prospects, and the market—building new business, strengthening key accounts, and creating measurable results across both properties.
What You'll Do:
  • Develop and execute sales strategies that grow occupancy, ADR, group room nights, negotiated accounts, banquet and event revenue, and overall profitable revenue.
  • Prospect, solicit, and secure new business across corporate, association, government, university-related, athletic, leisure, tour, wedding, social, meeting, reunion, and community segments.
  • Build strong relationships with local, regional, and national clients while protecting and expanding key accounts.
  • Identify and recover dormant or lost accounts by understanding prior production, decision-makers, service concerns, and reasons business moved elsewhere.
  • Sell the best-fit property for each opportunity while keeping business within the portfolio whenever it is right for the client and financially sound.
  • Grow meetings, weddings, banquets, golf-related events, and other event business by packaging lodging, meeting space, food and beverage, golf, and simulator entertainment options when appropriate.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the sales team with clear goals, strong communication, productive sales meetings, and measurable accountability.
  • Partner with revenue management and hotel leadership on pricing, forecasting, market segmentation, account strategy, budgeting, and revenue opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, account production, and emerging opportunities, then translate those insights into action.
  • Represent the properties through appropriate tourism, chamber, university, sports, business, community, and hospitality organizations.
  • Ensure a seamless handoff to sales managers and operations, while maintaining strong and lasting client relationships from the initial inquiry through post-stay or post-event follow-up.
What We're Looking For:
Approximately 3-5 years of progressive hotel or hospitality sales experience, including sales leadership or significant account responsibility. A proven record of direct selling, prospecting, outside appointments, proposals, negotiation, relationship development, and closing business. Working knowledge of hotel rooms sales, group business, local negotiated accounts, meetings, banquets, weddings, and event sales. Strong knowledge of the State College / Happy Valley market, or the ability to quickly build meaningful relationships within it. A sales leader who can coach and organize a team while still being an active producer. Strong communication, presentation, organization, follow-up, problem-solving, and business judgment. The ability to manage multiple priorities across two properties while remaining accurate, responsive, and accountable. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel locally between properties and client appointments. An associate or bachelor's degree is preferred. Experience selling multiple properties, working with major hotel brands, or holding hotel operational leadership experience is highly valued but not required for an otherwise strong candidate.
What Success Looks Like:
Successes will be measured by profitable revenue growth, stronger group room and negotiated-account production, increased meeting and event sales, new-account acquisition, retention and expansion of key clients, improved occupancy and market penetration, effective sales-team performance, and consistent follow-through from prospecting through post-event or post-stay evaluation. Why Join State College Associates? Competitive compensation with performance-based bonus opportunities and sales incentives tied to both properties. Health, dental, and vision insurance. 401(k) eligibility after one year of employment. Paid time off and holidays. Free daily employee meals. Employee hotel-rate discounts, plus discounts on restaurant dining and golf when off the clock. Brand and company training, workshops, conferences, mentorship, and professional-development opportunities. Opportunities for advancement within the organization. A leadership role with room to influence strategy, build business, develop a team, and make a measurable impact. Ready to Make an Impact? If you are a hospitality sales professional who enjoys being in the market, building relationships, leading people, and creating measurable revenue growth, we want to hear from you. Bring your experience, your network, your ideas, and your drive to a role where your work will directly shape the commercial success of two established State College properties. Apply today and help build the next chapter of our sales organization.
