Job Description

Director, California Public Sector Partnerships The Jahnda Group West Sacramento, CA Job Details Part-time | Full-time | Contract $60,000 - $80,000 a year 20 hours ago Benefits 401(k) Paid time off Flexible schedule Qualifications Customer communication Procurement Account development Business development Prospecting Contracts Full Job Description Director, California Public Sector Partnerships Overview Our Company is seeking an experienced Director, California Public Sector Partnerships to expand our business with California state and local government agencies, the CSU system, and other public-sector organizations. This is a highly relationship-driven business development role ideally suited for someone with significant experience in California public procurement, government contracting, or public-sector business development . We are particularly interested in candidates who understand how California agencies are structured, how purchasing decisions are made, and how to develop meaningful relationships with procurement officials and other decision-makers. The position will focus heavily on proactive outreach and relationship development—not simply monitoring bid boards. The successful candidate will identify target organizations and decision-makers, open doors, generate customer engagements, and convert those relationships into RFQs, purchasing opportunities, contracts, and recurring business. Sacramento-area candidates are strongly preferred. Duties Conduct consistent, proactive outreach to California procurement officials, contracting personnel, program leadership, and other public-sector decision-makers. Develop relationships that generate RFQs, Purchase Orders, blanket/recurring purchasing opportunities, LPAs, SLP opportunities, and other contract vehicles . Identify and strategically map high-potential agencies, departments, districts, campuses, and other public-sector buying organizations. Schedule and conduct customer meetings, agency visits, introductions, and follow-up engagements. Develop new relationships within existing Jahnda customer organizations while opening entirely new accounts. Identify customer requirements and translate those conversations into actionable opportunities for Jahnda's internal sales team. Attend relevant California procurement conferences, association events, and networking opportunities. Maintain accurate customer contacts, outreach, opportunities, and follow-up activity within Jahnda's CRM. Provide management with market intelligence and insight into California procurement practices, organizational structures, upcoming requirements, and growth opportunities. Work closely with Jahnda's internal team, which will support quoting, sourcing, order processing, fulfillment, and customer service so that this position can remain highly focused on external customer engagement and business development . Skills & Experience Significant experience with California public procurement, government contracting, public-sector sales, or business development . Strong understanding of how California state agencies and other public entities purchase products and services. Existing relationships within California government procurement are highly desirable. Experience with organizations such as DGS, Caltrans, DWR, CSU, or other California state/local public entities is especially valuable. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with procurement officials, contracting personnel, executives, and other decision-makers. Strong prospecting and outbound communication skills with a willingness to engage prospective customers consistently. Ability to independently identify target organizations, navigate complex organizational structures, and develop strategic paths to decision-makers. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the professionalism to represent Jahnda directly with government customers. Comfortable working with CRM systems and maintaining measurable activity, opportunity, and pipeline data. Results-oriented mindset with an understanding that success will ultimately be measured by progression from outreach → engagement → opportunities → RFQs/quotes → orders and revenue . Prior California government procurement experience—particularly from the buyer/procurement side—is highly desirable . The ideal candidate combines the institutional knowledge of an experienced California procurement professional with the energy and initiative of a business developer . We are looking for someone who knows how California government works, enjoys building relationships, and is excited by the opportunity to turn that knowledge and network into measurable business growth.
