Job Description
The Candlewood Suites Smyrna, located in Smyrna, TN is looking for a Director of Sales to generate/increase revenue for the hotel by performing sales activities to maximize occupancy in the hotel as well as increase bookings in the restaurant and banquet facilities. Essential Job Functions
- Creation of new business such as sales calls, direct marketing, and appointments.
- Respond to all inquiries for group room blocks and meetings with information and contracts to secure the business.
- Make outside sales calls to area businesses to introduce the hotel and its services.
- Call on businesses in feeder markets to generate incoming group and individual business.
- Put strong efforts towards creating shoulder season business by attracting corporate groups, team training experiences, weddings and other events that occupy both meeting space and sleeping rooms.
- Prepare all of the contract details for execution by the General Manager, invoice and collect all deposits due in a timely manner.
- Maintain positive working relationships with existing client base.
- Maintain records of sales activity and provide regular reporting.
- Transition sold event files to Event Coordinator for event execution. Maintain client contact throughout
- Prepare group resume and brief front desk staff on incoming groups.
- Make recommendations for setting rates and maximizing revenue.
- Make recommendations for advertising opportunities.
- Develop and follow annual marketing plan.
- Monitor final billing from groups and events to ensure timely collection.
- Participate in weekly sales & marketing meetings.
- Represent the hotel at area business and social functions.
- Perform additional tasks are requested by General Manager or Area Manager
- In house communication, coordination with clients and potential clients.
- Inspecting and approving banquet room setups
- Entering and managing group room blocks
- Neat, well groomed appearance.
- Proficient in computer office programs including Word, Excel.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Maintain a high level of quality and service.
- Meet or exceed set revenue and sales goals.
- Execute tasks on annual marketing plan.
- Maintain acceptable scores on client satisfaction surveys. Experience or Training Required
- 3 years previous hotel sales experience and knowledge of hotel sales and promotion procedures and methods.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Knowledge of tour, leisure travel and meetings industries.
- Knowledge of hotel reservations and Property Management systems.
- Able to supervise and work interactively with co-workers.
