Position Summary The Associate Director of Sales, Associations & Corporate Conventions is responsible for driving new business to the Lynnwood Event Center through proactive prospecting, strategic relationship development, and disciplined pipeline management. This high-impact, revenue-generating role focuses on attracting regional and national conventions, association meetings, and corporate events that drive facility utilization, food and beverage revenue, hotel room nights, and broader economic impact throughout Snohomish County. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this position operates with a high degree of independence and accountability. The successful candidate is a self-directed sales professional who knows how to build a market, develop long-term client relationships, identify multi-day and multi-year opportunities, and consistently move qualified prospects through the sales cycle.
Key responsibilities include:
Build and actively manage a target list of state, regional, and national associations and corporate meeting planners, with a strong focus on Washington and the Pacific Northwest. Generate new convention, association, and corporate business through proactive prospecting, outreach, networking, and relationship development. Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline within the CRM, ensuring consistent follow-up, accurate forecasting, and clear visibility into opportunities. Generate and respond to RFPs, prepare compelling proposals, lead negotiations, and advance opportunities through contract execution. Pursue multi-day and multi-year business that drives facility rental, food and beverage revenue, and hotel room nights throughout Snohomish County. Develop and execute territory and account strategies aligned with annual sales and revenue goals. Identify industry segments, geographic markets, and prospective accounts with strong growth potential. Build and maintain productive relationships with local hotels, tourism partners, community organizations, and other industry partners. Partner with the General Manager and operations team on date holds, booking windows, and sales strategies that support and protect convention business. Provide regular sales updates, pipeline analysis, forecasting, and market feedback to the General Manager. Conduct professional site visits and facility tours that clearly communicate the capabilities and value of the Lynnwood Event Center. Represent the Lynnwood Event Center at industry conferences, trade shows, networking functions, client meetings, and other business development opportunities. Serve as the primary client contact throughout the sales process, from initial prospecting through contract execution. Transition contracted events to the Event Management team while maintaining the client relationship through the event and cultivating opportunities for future business. Job Qualifications & Requirements The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: Five (5) or more years of experience selling group, convention, association, or corporate business for a hotel, convention center, CVB, event venue, or related organization. A proven record of generating new business through proactive outbound prospecting and relationship development. Experience managing a CRM system and maintaining an active, well-developed sales pipeline. Proven ability to negotiate contracts and close complex, high-value sales opportunities. Established relationships with association and/or corporate meeting planners. Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of sales goals and results. Confidence navigating high-value client conversations and negotiations. A data-driven approach to pipeline management, forecasting, and sales performance. Persistence and resilience in a competitive sales environment. These additional qualifications will help you stand out: Experience selling conventions, conferences, or association meetings. Knowledge of the Pacific Northwest meetings and events industry. Experience working with hotels, tourism organizations, CVBs, or destination marketing organizations.
