What they do
A Head Cashier manages all checkout functions including ensuring adequate staffing levels on checkouts, the processing of sales transactions and refunds, monitoring cash drawer amounts and maintaining the checkout area. Head cashier provides first level escalation for customer issues and assists in the supervision and training of cashiers. Head cashier may also be responsible for opening or closing procedures of a store, including alarm operation, unlocking store and setting up of checkout area.

Cash SalesCheck SalesNon-taxable salesCredit CardsVoidsExchangesEnter all sales and monies in register at time of saleHelp stock merchandise and straighten store as neededSuggest possible add-on purchases to the customer and promote store specialsReport to work promptly, neatly groomed, and appropriately attiredBe security conscious at all timesProvide knowledgeable responses to phone inquiries (e.g. sales, promotions, store location, price, and inventory)Keep updated on sale promotions (items/prices/etc.)Practice inventory control on bootsCheck for boot mis-matesFollow the company policy on all commission sales; validate all sales ticketsPerform all other miscellaneous duties as assignedWork with supervisors to understand all actions needed to impact the desired goals set by the company (i.e. ADS / UPT's / Company or Vendor PM's) Qualifications and Requirements Job requires associate to raise or lower objects from one level to another regularly during shiftAbility to comprehend basic instructionsAbility to interpret documentsAbility to apply abstract principles to a wide range of complex tasksAbility to understand the meanings of words and effectively respondAbility to analyze information and write reportsAssociate must be able to read English.
