GENERAL PURPOSE
The Cashier Team Lead at Big Deal Outlet is responsible for overseeing daily cashier operations while ensuring customers receive a friendly, efficient, and accurate checkout experience. This role combines strong customer service with leadership responsibilities, helping to support, guide, and motivate the cashier team while maintaining high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and store presentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and support cashier team members during daily operations and expectations. Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service and efficient checkouts. Train, coach and provide feedback to cashiers on procedures, accuracy and customer service. Monitor cash handling procedures and assist with drawer counts, balancing, and discrepancies. Observe store activity and customer behavior to prevent theft; review security footage as needed. Accurately document all returns and exchanges in accordance with company procedures. Operate cash register and accurately process cash, credit, and digital transactions. Issue receipts, refunds, and exchanges in accordance with company procedures. Greet customers promptly and provide courteous, professional service. Oversee checkout area cleanliness, organization, and readiness. Answer customer questions and resolve basic concerns professionally. Support upselling efforts and ensure consistent execution of promotions. Resolve customer concerns and escalated issues in a professional manner. Assist with store opening and closing, including cash handling, register setup, and closing procedures.
MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Advise management with scheduling support and workflow coordination. Support team members and assist with general store operations as needed. Remain attentive to store activity to help deter theft and minimize loss. Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS

Previous cashier or retail experience required; prior lead or supervisory experience preferred. Ability to train, motivate, and support team members. Able to work independently with little instruction. Effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment. Reliable attendance and punctuality, with the ability to work scheduled shifts. Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of contributing to a respectful, team-oriented workplace.
