A Position Objective:
The Cashier is responsible for providing prompt, courteous, and accurate cashiering support for dealership customers and internal departments. This position receives and processes customer payments, issues receipts, makes change, records transactions in dealership systems, answers and directs phone calls, and assists with routine clerical and accounting support. The Cashier helps ensure a professional customer experience while maintaining accurate records, safeguarding dealership funds, and following established accounting procedures and internal controls.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Receive cash, checks and credit card payments from customers and record the amount received. Operate cash register. Make change, cash checks, and issue receipts to customers. Input all necessary data into the dealership's computer system on a daily basis. Assist with maintaining GM Rewards service program. Mail monthly accounts receivable statements by the last day of the month. Perform miscellaneous filing of car deals, miscellaneous car deal forms, accounts payable and others as needed. Refer customers who have additional questions (e.g. questions about their repair order) to the service advisor or other appropriate individual. Handle customer complaints with integrity and poise and take or refer that customer to the appropriate individual for further communication. Give cash refunds to customers for returned merchandise or upon authorization of a department manager. Answer telephones and take messages for specific people as assigned.
Expectations:
Be available to cashier customer transactions. Communicate with team members when there is a need to step away from the cashier window. Be dependable and reliable with attendance and timeliness to work. Process assigned tasks and transactions accurately, timely, and in accordance with dealership accounting procedures. Maintain a high level of accuracy when entering payments, invoices, credits, adjustments, vendor information, and customer account activity. Review supporting documentation before posting transactions to ensure charges, coding, approvals, and account details are complete and correct. Research and resolve discrepancies professionally and efficiently Maintain organized electronic and paper records for ROs, invoices, receipts, payment confirmations, and other accounting documentation. Protect confidential financial, customer, vendor, and dealership information at all times. Communicate clearly, courteously, and professionally with dealership personnel, vendors, customers, and management. Meet assigned deadlines Utilize dealership software, spreadsheets, document storage systems, and other tools required for the position. Identify process concerns, recurring discrepancies, or missing documentation and bring them to the attention of the Controller. Adhere to dealership policies, accounting controls, and established procedures.
Required Qualifications:

Employment Type:
Full-Time Sit at a workstation in the Accounting Department office utilizing a computer for the duration of shift. Stand to cashier customer transactions at the cashier window when a customer is present. While on site, and if within certain positions within the company, you may be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
