This position leads by example, helps guide team members during active business hours, coordinates breaks and lunches when clocked in, and ensures staff remain focused, productive, and aligned with company standards. In addition to supporting front desk and guest-facing operations, the Shift Lead assists with birthday party preparation, staff training, compliance tracking, deposits, social media, event promotion, process updates, and special projects as assigned. This role requires strong judgment, professionalism, organization, confidentiality, and the ability to balance guest service, team support, and operational needs in a fast-paced, family-focused environment. The Shift Lead acts as a trusted support to management while maintaining a polished, calm, and welcoming presence for guests, families, and team members. This position does not replace management authority but helps ensure the shift runs smoothly, standards are upheld, and important details are communicated clearly to the appropriate manager. Handle cash, credit card, and digital transactions with precision and accountability. Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing front desk counter and service area. Support light facility upkeep, including maintaining cleanliness of guest-facing areas. Assist families with questions regarding playground services, pricing, promotions, and playground policies. Clearly communicate offerings, memberships, packages, rules, and special programs. Ensure all guests meets the safety standards (e.g., waivers, age guidelines, capacity limits, etc.). Resolve guest concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate. Follow all health and safety guidelines. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations and positive guest flow. Support opening and closing procedures, including cash reconciliation and basic reporting tasks. Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive, elevated, and family-friendly atmosphere at all times. Performs all duties of the Café Concierge & Cashier position. Performs other duties as assigned, directed, or required. Position Specific Management, Marketing & Adminsitrative Responsabilities Calls birthday party families on Mondays to confirm details, answer questions, and support a smooth party experience. Prints party summaries, highlights important details for each station, reviews tricky orders or special requests, and answers staff questions related to party execution. Counts and consolidates deposits as assigned by management Owns MAST and Food Handler Card tracking, including assigning required certifications, monitoring completion, following up with team members, and communicating compliance concerns to management. Trains new hires on front desk procedures, including guest check-in, POS use, waivers, customer service Assists with planning special events, seasonal programs, summer camps, and guest-facing activities Actively participates in social media planning and execution as assigned, including content ideas, captions, posts, stories, reels, scheduling, and promotion of events, camps, parties, memberships, cafe offerings, and company updates.
Licenses, Certifications and Other Requirements Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED. Prior customer service, hospitality, retail, food service, recreation, or family-focused experience preferred. Previous leadership, keyholder, trainer, supervisor, or shift lead experience preferred
Special Requirements:
WA State Food Worker Card within 14 days of hire. Schedule flexibility required, including evenings, weekends, holidays, birthday parties, peak business periods, and special events. Working Conditions:
Work requires regular and punctual attendance to assigned work locations. Work is performed in an indoor luxury playground and café environment with moderate to occasionally high noise levels due to children's activities and family traffic; frequent interaction with children, families, and guests; regular exposure to food preparation areas, standard café equipment, and common cleaning supplies; work performed primarily indoors with movement throughout café, seating, and playground areas; schedule flexibility required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; fast-paced environment during peak hours, birthday parties, and special events requiring the ability to adapt to fluctuating guest volume and activity levels. Authority & Limitations The Shift Lead may provide direction and support to team members during assigned shifts, including coordinating breaks and lunches when clocked in and assigned to lead the shift. The Shift Lead may assign productive work to team members when they are not actively engaged in guest service or assigned duties. The Shift Lead does not have authority to hire, terminate, formally discipline, approve raises, change company policy, or make final employment decisions. Employee performance concerns, serious guest issues, safety incidents, certification non-compliance, schedule concerns, and policy violations must be reported to management. The Shift Lead is expected to support management decisions, uphold company standards, maintain confidentiality, and act as a professional representative of Nick's Magnificent at all times.
