Job Description
Natural Alternative is a local, coop grocery store. There is a strong community of customers/members-owners. The work atmosphere is social and inviting. The Storekeeper is responsible for registering sales and handling purchases. They provide a positive, customer experience with quality service and a positive demeanor. They greet, field questions and resolve customer-related issues. They maintain a full, fresh & clean storefront. Store Functions Open and close store as scheduled, according to procedures. Be adept at the POS system for processing sales, price checks, refunds. Run the register. Check out customers, sell memberships, trail passes, gift certificates. Handle the till and credit processing. Reconcile the end-of-day sales and file daily reports. Coordinate with other employees so that there is always a primary cashier at any given time. Maintain operator license for alcohol sales. Customer Service Greet customers as they walk in the door. Offer courtesy and professional service. Assist customers with questions. Be aware of customers who appear to be looking for something. Answer the phone and route information/questions to the appropriate person. Field product inquiry questions and take special orders to pass on to buyers. Stocking/Cleaning Stock produce and pull back as necessary. Stock and face grocery shelves and bulk. Monitor and process out-of-date products. Enter spoilage and process markdowns on short-dated products. Maintain a clean store and faced. Receive and stock orders.
