• 5:00 PM; flexibility required) Position Overview The Community Supervision Officer (CSO)
• Assessor serves within the Centralized Assessment and Screening Team (CAST), establishing the foundational risk and needs framework for individuals placed on adult community supervision.

Utilizing the Texas Risk Assessment System (TRAS), the CSO-Assessor evaluates criminogenic risk, responsivity factors, and intervention requirements through in-depth client interviews and collateral record reviews. The role prepares comprehensive, professional diagnostic reports that guide judicial decisions and inform supervision strategies across the county probation system.

Key Duties & Responsibilities Comprehensive Risk Assessment:

Conduct diagnostic interviews and review collateral records utilizing the Texas Risk Assessment System (TRAS) to assess criminogenic risk and responsivity needs.

Judicial & Administrative Reporting:

Write structured, professional reports summarizing assessment findings and presenting formal recommendations regarding supervision levels and intervention programs to the Court and departmental leadership.

Interdisciplinary Consultation:

Collaborate with judicial officers, court staff, and HCCSCD personnel to align diagnostic evaluation outcomes with supervision plans.

Professional Writing:

Demonstrate strong, technical report-writing skills as part of mandatory daily documentation functions.

Certification Maintenance:

Successfully complete mandatory state probation certification and assessment tool training benchmarks within prescribed timelines.

Qualifications & Requirements Educational Mandate:

Bachelor's degree conferred by an institution of higher education accredited by an organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Mandatory Certification Benchmarks:

Must achieve Texas Risk Assessment System (TRAS) certification within the first two attempts.

Must obtain state-mandated Community Supervision Officer (CSO) qualifications within one year of appointment.

Failure to meet certification timelines may result in termination.

Core Competencies:
