Southern California (Hybrid/Field Based)
Position Type:
Part time hourly AFSCME District Council 36 represents thousands of public service workers across Southern California. We work to build strong unions, develop worker leaders, and improve workplace conditions through collective action. Position Summary AFSCME District Council 36 is seeking motivated people to play a key role in strengthening our union by talking with workers, helping new employees learn about the union, supporting worksite actions, and building member engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for people who want to develop organizing, leadership, and communication skills while helping grow worker power. Responsibilities Conduct one-on-one conversations with workers. Assist with new employee orientations. Support worksite visits and member outreach. Help identify and develop workplace leaders. Attend organizing trainings and meetings. Assist with membership growth campaigns. Support union events, actions, and community activities. Qualifications Strong communication and listening skills. Commitment to union values and worker advocacy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Comfortable speaking with workers from diverse backgrounds. Reliable and willing to learn organizing skills. Previous organizing experience is helpful but not required. What You'll Gain Hands-on organizing experience. Leadership development opportunities.
