Job Description

Work to Reduce E-Waste in Our Canvassing and Field Manager Positions We dispose of 15,000 cell phones in our state each day. We could eliminate a lot of this waste if companies made it easier to fix the stuff we already own. Instead, companies restrict access to parts and tools, forcing consumers to replace rather than repair our electronics and appliances. PennPIRG is working to pass a bill that would keep our devices in use and out of landfills by giving us what we need to fix our stuff. We're hiring canvassers and field managers in our Philadelphia office to educate the public about this issue, raise critical funds, and generate the visibility necessary to influence local decision-makers.
As a canvasser you will:
Educate and engage citizens on a campaign to make real change on pressing environmental and public interest issues Develop essential communication and political advocacy skills Build membership and raise money for nonprofit groups in your community Earn leadership opportunities, supervising and managing staff in the field Gain the experience and connections needed to launch your career in nonprofit and policy work We are looking for: We are seeking hard-working individuals with good communication skills and a passion for social change.   • Eligibility for benefits depends on your position, location, duration of employment, and other factors.
Pay:
Canvassing staff earn a base pay of $16.00 per hour, plus can earn 20% of what they raise over our minimum fundraising standard, giving staff the opportunity to earn more than $20 per hour. Staff never earn less than minimum wage for the hours that they work. Depending on performance and location, canvassers earn an average of between $16 to $21 per hour.
