Job Description

Job Description The Energy Advisor helps residential and commercial customers reduce energy costs through energy efficiency, conservation, and renewable energy programs. This role analyzes energy usage, resolves billing and usage inquiries, and recommends solutions that improve efficiency and customer outcomes. The position also supports customer education and outreach efforts, requiring strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  •  Manage high-volume customer interactions.
  •  Advise customers on lowering utility costs and improving energy efficiency.
  •  Analyze energy usage, billing concerns, and account history.
  •  Investigate high-bill or high-usage situations and recommend solutions.
  •  Support outreach campaigns and program participation goals.
  •  Educate customers on energy-saving programs and renewable energy options.
  •  Guide customers through program enrollment.
  •  Represent the organization at community events, trade shows, and workshops.
  •  Deliver presentations and educational materials.
  •  Work independently and collaboratively to resolve customer issues.
  •  Escalate complex concerns when needed.
  •  Maintain safety, compliance, and customer service standards.
  •  Perform other duties as assigned.

  •  Associate degree in General Studies or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  •  Minimum of three (3) years of customer-facing experience assisting customers with inquiries, complaints, issues, or service requests.
  •  Experience working with multiple systems and analyzing customer information.
  •  Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  •  Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  •  Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends for special events when required.
  •  Utility industry experience.
  •  Knowledge of residential and commercial energy end-uses.
  •  Understanding of residential construction characteristics and heat-loss theory.
  •  Familiarity with energy codes, standards, and regulations.
  •  Technical knowledge of customer energy equipment applications and associated economic considerations.
  •  Public speaking, presentation, or community outreach experience.
