Position Summary The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret, and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education, and exhibition. The Membership department works to provide vital, renewable, and unrestricted contributions that support the Museum's exhibitions, research, and educational programming. The Membership department is seeking a part-time Member Relations Representative to provide customer service to Museum members, donors, and potential members in-person and via phone, email, and/or fax correspondences. The Member Relations Representative maintains a strong knowledge of the Museum's collections, exhibitions, policies, and membership offerings. They fulfill ticketing requests and explain member benefits, while maintaining and updating accurate membership records via data entry, including membership status. They assist in welcoming members onsite, work in the member lounge, perform general office duties, and assist with member events as assigned. Job duties include, but are not limited to: Support customer service efforts and respond to daily phone calls, voicemails, and emails from current, lapsed, and prospective members by addressing inquiries about member benefits, tickets, and general Museum information.
Process member and donor financial transactions in ticketing software (Tessitura), following department ticketing procedures.
Complete data entry accurately in accordance with Museum policies and procedures.
Work closely with Guest Services Representatives to ensure a meaningful experience for members.
Maintain daily upkeep of the lounge inventory, resources, and amenities.
Work with Membership Managers and Coordinators on special projects as assigned.
Maintain a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. The expected salary range for the Member Relations Representative is $20.00/hour - $21.00/hour. This position is overtime-eligible. Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization, and depth and scope of experience. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience working in customer service. Preferred Qualifications Three years of related professional experience. Physical Demands Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.
Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
Must be able to move about the Museum campus. Category Part-Time
