A Membership Sales Representative recruits and sells new memberships for organizations that rely on membership fees as a primary source of income, including industry and trade associations, service organizations, non-profit organizations and private clubs. May work within a specific territory for recruiting memberships.
The East End YMCA in Madison is hiring a part time Member Service Representative.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform and provide excellent customer service skills by exceeding the expectations of members. Consistently greet every person who enters the YMCA (by name, if known) and recognize all members and guests when they leave. Engage in active listening with members and program participants in order to build relationships, understand individual's goals and interests, and take the initiative to ensure the member has a positive experience. Answer phones, direct calls, and provide accurate information about membership and programs. Conduct interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sell membership and process program registration. Promote program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Build relationships with members; help members connect with one another and the YMCA. Monitor and utilize software to verify membership and enroll participants in programs. Resolve membership concerns and inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues. Adhere to all YMCA policies dealing with member services. Understand your role as a mandated reporter for elder and child abuse. Report and respond to situations in accordance with policies and procedures. Demonstrate and uphold the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and growth mindset in all aspects of your work. Maintain an accurate inventory and record of daily transactions.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least 18 years of age. Ability to complete Y provided certifications within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills Previous customer service, sales, or related experience. Basic knowledge of computers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Light work. Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise, move objects. The worker may be subject to noise. Occasionally subject to environmental conditions and unstable surfaces. Activities occur mostly inside.
Ability to:
stand, sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch occasionally during the work shift; use hands and fingers for fine motor skills occasionally; walking on a variety of uneven surfaces and climbing stairs occasionally; receive detailed information through sound as well as express through the spoken word; read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
