MERCHANDISING SPECIALIST - JOB DESCRIPTION
Merchandising Specialist Responsibilities:
The Merchandising Specialist has the ultimate responsibility for setting product planograms for grocery, beverage, tobacco and other product sets. In addition, the Merchandising Specialist supports the stores and is a subject matter expert within the category. The Merchandising Specialist thrives on building effective business relationships, has a customer-driven focus and strong follow up skills. The Merchandising Specialist reports directly to the Director of Category Management. Merchandising Specialist duties will include, but are not limited to: Visit retail stores to maximize awareness and sales of products; sets products according to Company planograms Build and maintain strong relationships with retail teams including site personnel, District and Regional Managers During site visits, maintain store shelves by removing dated or damaged products Communicate recommendations for promotional strategies to Category Manager Ensure that sites are stocked with the right types and quantities of products Display, arrange, price and rotate products at a site Observe customer reaction to special promotions, communicate observations to the Category Manager and remove promotional materials at the end of the promotion cycle Perform competitor analysis to gain insight on competing promotions Stay up-to-date with trends in product lines
Experience/Qualifications:
BA/BS Degree Self-motivated and results-oriented with the ability to function effectively as a team member yet work independently Able to establish and meet deadlines and quickly develop clear priorities Able to communicate in a professional manner when dealing with associates, vendors and Company contacts Grocery/retail category management experience
