In this position you will manage a merchandising team as well as create and maintain great-looking plant displays at our customers' locations. You will be responsible for overseeing and performing physical merchandising tasks for our garden center while maintaining professional and courteous communication with store managers, your merchandising team and MFC corporate employees. What You Will Do Manage a territory consisting of several stores in the region which requires travel between stores. Work full-time hours including overtime during peak times (April-June and November15-December 20). Weekend work may be required during peak seasons. Unload carts of plants for display, water plants, toss expired plants, etc. Partner, communicate and collaborate with store management. Interview, hire, train and schedule seasonal merchandisers. Partner with HR on employee relations and other concerns. Maintain a safe working environment. Investigate and report all work related accidents and injuries. Physical Requirements Frequently lift, carry move and position plants and displays weighing up to 40# total, and 20# over your head. Frequently push and pull shipping carts (approximate weight 800 lbs. on wheels) across parking lots and through garden centers. Occasionally climb ladders and balance. Occasionally work in inclement weather (rain, snow, wind). Frequently bend, crouch, kneel, twist and raise their arms above your head. Skill Requirements Excellent professional communication skills both written and verbal. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to utilize and catch on to new technologies. Proficiency using the Internet and web-based time clock and payroll software. Ability to distinguish colors for sorting merchandise by type, color and price. Experience managing a team with ability to coach them to success.
