Job Description

The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service while serving as the primary point of contact for customers and technicians regarding marine parts and accessories. The Parts Advisor will be responsible for identifying, sourcing, ordering, receiving, and distributing parts needed for boat repairs and maintenance. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, product knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with both customers and service technicians. The Parts Advisor plays an essential role in keeping the service department operating efficiently by ensuring the correct parts are available when needed. You will work closely with customers, technicians, vendors, and the service department to identify parts requirements, provide pricing and availability information, process orders, and maintain accurate inventory records. Responsibilities Maintain a positive, professional attitude while supporting the service and parts team in an efficient and productive manner. Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with marine parts, accessories, and product questions. Identify and accurately source parts based on customer requests, technician recommendations, service work orders, and boat specifications. Work closely with service technicians and service advisors to ensure all required parts are identified and available for scheduled repairs. Research parts catalogs, manufacturer systems, and vendor resources to locate correct replacement parts. Prepare accurate parts quotes and communicate pricing, availability, and estimated delivery times to customers. Order parts from manufacturers, distributors, and outside vendors while maintaining competitive pricing and appropriate margins. Monitor outstanding orders and follow up with vendors to ensure parts arrive when expected. Receive, inspect, label, and properly store incoming parts and accessories. Maintain accurate parts inventory and assist with periodic inventory counts and adjustments. Identify special-order, back-ordered, discontinued, or unavailable parts and provide customers and technicians with appropriate alternatives when possible. Maintain organized records of customer orders, purchase orders, invoices, and parts transactions. Coordinate the distribution of parts to technicians and ensure parts are properly assigned to the correct repair order. Communicate with customers regarding special orders, order status, availability, pricing, and returns. Process parts sales and ensure invoices and work orders are accurately documented. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional parts department and showroom. Assist with maintaining and developing a marketable selection of marine parts, accessories, and commonly requested products. Work with vendors and management to identify opportunities to improve profitability and product availability. Process parts returns, warranties, and core returns according to company and manufacturer procedures. Assist with identifying opportunities to increase parts sales and improve customer retention.
