The Parts Consultant is responsible for assisting the Sales and Service Departments with parts requests. The Parts Consultant must keep current on products and be knowledgeable about automobile parts. Founded in 1961, JN Group has been in business for over sixty years and represents eleven world-class automotive brands ranging from daily driving needs to the ultimate in luxury and performance. We are a family-owned, values-based organization, and understand the important role all of our team members play for our customers and the brands we represent. Pay range is from $18 to $20 an hour, plus commissions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following: Assist walk-in customers in selecting required parts, suggest companion requirements, offer specials, and ensure that the customer is exposed to the full product line. Pull purchased parts from stock. Answer phone calls, provide price quotes, and other information. Assist Service Technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs in process. Assist outside sales representatives with their orders. Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, and pick-up. If the part is not in stock, determine availability and order accordingly. Assist with perpetual and physical inventories. Replenish assigned inventory daily. Verify "will-call" and "back-order" files weekly and return to vendors, or stock those items not required. Issue credit for returned parts, ensuring that the original invoice or its number is available to verify the purchase and pricing information. Balance parts invoices to cash drawer daily before end of shift. Collaborate with the Parts Manager in maintaining a Lost Sale Tracking program. Participate in all training programs that are made available. Keep current on new products and product updates. Advise Parts Manager when areas of the department are not in satisfactory condition. Notify the Shop Foreman and the customer that ordered parts have been received. Ensure that before parts can be changed out, the Service Technician presents a parts requisition with proper line applicable to repair. Other duties as assigned.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Present recommendations and assist in implementing quality initiatives to the team. Become a brand ambassador by having extensive brand and product knowledge to help cross-sell, up-sell, grow customer relationships and foster loyalty. Create customer and employee interactions that foster positive outcomes. Provide support on any other duties as assigned. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of experience in an automotive parts department preferred. Must have one (1) year of experience with customer service, cash handling, and sales. Ability to work well with the public, sometimes with several customers at a time. Ability to look up parts and quote prices for parts using proper catalogue. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. ADP experience in Parts Department setting helpful.
