Job Description
Auto Doctors is hiring an experienced Automotive Parts & Front Counter Specialist to join our team. This is not an entry-level automotive position. We are looking for someone with real automotive parts experience who knows how to research, source, verify, and order the right part the first time — while also being comfortable helping customers and supporting the day-to-day flow of a busy independent repair shop. This is an important position on our team. The right person understands that great parts operations keep technicians productive, repairs moving, and customer promises on track. What You'll Do Parts & Sourcing Research, source, and order automotive parts using multiple vendors and lookup systems Verify application and fitment before ordering — never assume Cross-reference part numbers and research difficult-to-find parts Compare part quality, availability, pricing, warranty, and vendor options Understand when aftermarket parts are appropriate and when OE/OEM-quality components are necessary Make sure technicians have the correct parts when they need them Manage receiving, returns, cores, warranties, and inventory accuracy Communicate ETAs, backorders, and sourcing issues before they create delays Repair Shop Support Work directly with technicians and service advisors to keep repair orders moving Assist with parts pricing and estimate building Stay aware of workflow and prioritize parts for waiting customers and time-sensitive repairs Help solve problems when a part is difficult to locate rather than stopping at the first unavailable source Assist with Quality Control and other shop-support responsibilities as needed Customer & Front Counter Support Greet and acknowledge customers when they enter the shop Provide friendly, professional customer service in person and over the phone Assist customers with check-in and check-out when needed Answer phones, take accurate messages, and help direct customer needs appropriately Support Service Advisors when the front counter gets busy Communicate professionally and confidently without guessing or giving customers information you aren't sure about What We're Looking For 2+ years of automotive parts experience Hands-on experience researching and sourcing automotive parts Experience using automotive parts catalogs, lookup systems, and vendor platforms Strong understanding of application accuracy and aftermarket vs. OEM parts Strong research and problem-solving ability Excellent attention to detail Strong customer service and communication skills Comfortable speaking with customers both in person and on the phone Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced repair environment Someone who asks questions when they aren't sure rather than making assumptions A team-first attitude and willingness to step in where help is needed Valid driver's license Even Better If You Have Independent automotive repair shop experience Service advisor or estimating experience Tekmetric experience Experience working directly with technicians Front-counter automotive experience The Person We're Looking For You're the person people come to when they can't find a part . You know how to cross-reference, research, compare vendors, verify an application, and keep looking when the obvious answer isn't the right one. You also understand that this job isn't performed from behind a computer. You communicate with technicians, help advisors, acknowledge customers when they walk through the door, answer the phone when it rings, and step in when another member of the team needs help. You work with urgency without sacrificing accuracy . If you don't know something, you ask. If a part is difficult to find, you research it. If there's a problem that could delay a repair, you communicate it. Most importantly, you understand that parts isn't an isolated department. The accuracy and urgency of your work directly affect technician productivity, repair completion, customer promises, and the success of the entire shop. Why Auto Doctors? Auto Doctors is an established, independent automotive repair company. We believe in taking care of our customers, supporting each other, and doing the job right.
