This role serves both retail and professional customers, supports store operations, and contributes to sales growth, accuracy, and efficiency at the counter. The Counterperson is often the first point of contact with customers and plays a critical role in building trust, maintaining repeat business, and representing the company's commitment to service and professionalism. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Greet customers promptly and professionally, both in person and by phone Assist customers in identifying correct parts using electronic catalogs and reference tools Provide accurate pricing, availability, and product recommendations Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently through the POS system Promote related or complementary products when appropriate (add-on sales) Resolve basic customer issues, returns, and warranty inquiries in accordance with company policy Parts Knowledge & Accuracy Maintain working knowledge of automotive parts, applications, and terminology Ensure accuracy in part selection to minimize returns and errors Verify part numbers, quantities, and specifications before completing transactions Stay current on new products, vendor changes, and pricing updates Store Operations Support Assist with stocking, labeling, and organizing inventory Help maintain clean, orderly, and professional counter and sales floor areas Participate in cycle counts, inventory checks, and merchandising efforts Assist with receiving, checking in, and putting away freight as needed Communication & Teamwork Communicate clearly with customers, coworkers, and management Work cooperatively with delivery drivers, warehouse staff, and sales personnel Escalate complex issues or customer concerns to management when appropriate Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines Performance Expectations Maintain a high level of accuracy in parts identification and transactions Deliver consistent, friendly, and professional customer service Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and readiness to work scheduled shifts Contribute positively to team morale and store culture Support store sales goals and operational standards Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Basic automotive parts knowledge or prior automotive/retail experience preferred Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to learn electronic parts catalogs and POS systems Basic math and computer skills Physical & Work Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift and carry parts and boxes (typically up to 50 lbs.) Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in an automotive parts store or related industry ASE Parts Specialist certification (a plus, not required) Work Schedule Full-time including possible Saturdays Benefits Health, Dental and Vision Insurance Life Insurance Paid Time Off Retirement Plan Employee Discount
