This position requires strong customer service skills, strict attention to compliance, and hands-on experience with firearm sales procedures and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist customers with firearm and accessory purchases Provide product knowledge and promote safe firearm handling practices Accurately complete and process ATF Form 4473 Process Dealer Record of Sale (DROS) transactions in compliance with California law Maintain and update the Acquisition & Disposition (A&D) bound book with accurate records Administer and issue Firearms Safety Certificate (FSC) tests (if certified) Ensure all federal, state, and local firearm regulations are followed Safely handle, store, and display firearms and related products Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, including cash and credit transactions Maintain organized merchandise displays and ensure products are well-stocked and labeled Assist with inventory management, stock counts, and processing shipments Provide excellent customer service in person and over the phone
Required Qualifications:
Experience completing ATF Form 4473 Experience processing DROS transactions Experience maintaining A&D bound book records Strong understanding of firearm laws and compliance requirements High attention to detail and accuracy Previous firearms retail or sales experience Solid knowledge of firearm operation, safety, and maintenance Basic gunsmithing skills (cleaning, minor repairs, troubleshooting) Certifications (Nice to Have): California Certificate of Eligibility (COE) DOJ Certified Instructor Gunsmithing certification or formal training
