Max's Pet Market & Salon is seeking an experienced and dependable Pet Retail Sales Associate to join our new Naples location. This position is ideal for someone who genuinely loves animals, owns pets, and has a strong interest in holistic pet nutrition, wellness, and high-quality pet products. As a member of our retail team, you will provide exceptional customer service, help pet parents make informed purchasing decisions, maintain a welcoming and organized store, and support the daily operation of the retail floor. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, reliable, confident working independently, and excited to continue learning about pet nutrition and wellness. Responsibilities Welcome customers and provide friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable service Learn about each pet's individual needs and recommend appropriate food, treats, supplements, toys, grooming products, and other supplies Educate customers about holistic pet nutrition, including premium kibble, gently cooked, raw, freeze-dried, and other feeding options Explain product ingredients, features, benefits, and proper usage clearly and accurately Build lasting relationships with customers and their pets Operate the point-of-sale system and accurately process purchases, returns, exchanges, and cash transactions Receive inventory, stock shelves, rotate products, and monitor expiration dates Maintain accurate pricing and attractive product displays Assist with inventory counts and communicate low-stock or product-related concerns to management Keep the retail floor, checkout area, displays, and shared spaces clean and organized Answer telephone inquiries professionally and assist customers with product availability and store services Support and mentor newer retail associates when needed Help promote store services, specials, loyalty programs, and featured products Follow all company policies, customer-service standards, and store procedures Assist with opening and closing responsibilities as assigned Required Qualifications Previous pet retail experience Must be a pet owner with personal, hands-on experience caring for animals Strong interest in holistic pet nutrition, natural wellness, and premium pet products Exceptional customer-service and communication skills Reliable, punctual, responsible, and professional Strong product-recommendation and sales abilities Comfortable learning detailed information about ingredients, feeding options, supplements, and pet wellness Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to perform basic math and accurately handle cash and transactions Comfortable working in a busy, customer-focused retail environment Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of raw, gently cooked, freeze-dried, air-dried, and premium kibble diets Experience with pet supplements, treats, enrichment products, grooming supplies, or natural wellness products Previous experience with inventory management, merchandising, or product ordering Experience training or supporting other retail associates Familiarity with retail point-of-sale systems Bilingual skills are a plus What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is more than a cashier.
