Job Description

Overview Murphy's Sod & Landscaping is hiring a dependable, organized Landscape Sales Associate / Trainee to support our sales and operations team. You'll work directly with seasoned sales professionals to help customers improve their properties through sod installation, landscape improvements, and hardscape projects. You'll learn how to measure properties, prepare estimates, follow up with customers, and turn approved proposals into clear installation plans. This position combines office work, customer communication, and visits to project sites. It offers a path into independent landscape sales and estimating as your skills develop. Responsibilities Engage with customers to understand their landscaping needs, offering expert advice on plant selection, lawn care, floral design, and landscape maintenance Assist customers in selecting products and services through effective merchandising and knowledgeable recommendations Record access restrictions, existing conditions, removal needs, and other details that affect installation costs. Help prepare sod, landscape, and hardscape estimates using approved pricing and estimating procedures Obtain supplier pricing and confirm material availability. Prepare clear proposals for review, including scope, quantities, options, and exclusions. Follow up on outstanding estimates, answer questions within your training, and document next steps. Keep customer records, project notes, and sales activity current in company systems. Assemble installation handoff packages with approved proposals, measurements, photographs, material selections, and customer notes. Coordinate with the office on signed paperwork and deposit status. Follow up with customers after installation and communicate concerns promptly. Learn our installation methods through field training with sod and hardscape crews. What We're Looking For Clear, professional communication with customers and coworkers. Strong organization and consistent follow-through. Comfort with basic math, measurements, email, spreadsheets, and learning estimating software. Attention to detail when preparing quotes and documenting job requirements. Willingness to learn sod installation, landscaping, and hardscape construction. Ability to visit and assess outdoor project sites, with reasonable accommodation as needed. A valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements. Sales, customer service, landscaping, construction, or estimating experience is preferred. A college degree is not required. We value reliability, willingness to learn, and the ability to follow through. What Success Looks Like During your first 30 days, you'll learn our services, systems, estimating process, and customer communication standards. By 60 days, you should be managing assigned follow-ups, collecting useful site information, and preparing proposal drafts for review. By 90 days, you should be keeping assigned opportunities organized, producing accurate project documentation, and preparing straightforward sod estimates for approval. Compensation and Growth Performance bonus opportunities after the initial 90-day training period. Paid training in landscape sales, estimating, and installation methods. 401(k) company match up to 3% after one year of service, subject to official plan eligibility and matching terms. Opportunity for advancement as we grow. Advancement is based on demonstrated estimating accuracy, customer service, knowledge of both sod and hardscape work, and the ability to sell projects that meet company profitability standards.

$40,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
