In this role, you will serve as the face of our store, assisting customers with plant and garden needs, showcasing products by educating customers, and ensuring the sales floor remains clean and well-organized. Your excellent communication skills will help foster a welcoming environment that encourages repeat business and brand loyalty. Duties Greet customers warmly, identify their needs, and provide expert plant and garden product recommendations. Assist customers with deciding which plants are right for their environment Assist with merchandising efforts by organizing displays, stocking shelves, and maintaining visual appeal. Operate the POS (Point of Sale) system accurately for transactions, including cash handling and credit card processing. Upsell complementary products by recognizing opportunities to maximize sales and improve customer satisfaction. Maintain excellent phone etiquette when answering inquiries or providing assistance remotely. Support inventory management through stocking, inventory checks, and replenishing merchandise as needed. Supervise junior team members when necessary, providing guidance on customer service standards and sales techniques. Qualifications Plant knowledge is a big plus Previous retail sales experience is preferred but not required; a strong desire to learn is essential. Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling procedures, and basic retail math to ensure accurate transactions. Knowledge on basic plant care and ability to learn Excellent communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette for both in-person and remote interactions. Experience in grocery stores or similar retail environments is advantageous. Supervising experience is beneficial for leadership opportunities within the team.
