Job Description

About us: Nestled along the banks of the Haw River, the Valley Golf Course (formally known as Indian Valley) offers the avid golfer a fair test of their golf game. The 18-hole Ellis Maples par 70 course is owned and operated by the City of Burlington and is available for regular and tournament play.
What you will do:
Handle all Pro Shop operations, to include but not limited to, booking Tee Times, collecting payments, preparing deposits, selling merchandise, and performing any administrative work accurately and efficiently. Preparing hot foods and maintaining health and sanitation regulations according to health department standards. This job also requires the opening and securely closing of the facility.
Guest Interaction and Service:
Greet all guests warmly and professionally, ensuring a friendly and courteous experience upon arrival. Communicate effectively, both in person and on the phone, offering clear and courteous assistance to guests regarding their play at the course. Provide detailed information about golf products, services, and all relevant offerings at The Valley Golf Course to enhance the guest experience.
Operations and Cash Handling:
Adhere to proper cash handling procedures, ensuring secure transactions. Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and Pace Tech System accurately and efficiently. Ensure the pro shop is fully stocked, organized, and visually appealing for guests.
Collaboration and Coordination:
Work closely with the Outside Service Attendant to manage golf cart availability, ensuring guests have a seamless experience. Keep the Course Attendant informed of any updates or changes to the tee sheet to ensure smooth operations. Assist with the setup and execution of golf tournaments and outings, contributing to successful events.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Prepare and handle food in accordance with health regulations, ensuring safe and hygienic practices. Participate in all required employee orientation, safety trainings, and ongoing learning opportunities.
Additional Responsibilities:
Report guest complaints promptly to the Golf Manager/Assistant Manager to resolve issues effectively. Arrive on time for shifts, dressed appropriately in neat work attire, and ready to contribute to team success. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the course's operation.
Communication and Interpersonal Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ensuring clarity and professionalism in all interactions. Strong listening and comprehension skills to understand guest needs and follow instructions effectively. Positive and approachable interpersonal skills, fostering a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Multitasking and Adaptability:
Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure while managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet operational needs.
Professional Conduct and Teamwork:
Communicates with professionalism, using appropriate language, tone, and body language when interacting with guests and colleagues. Demonstrates the ability to follow instructions accurately and adhere to management's direction for smooth operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous golf-related experience that brings valuable insight and familiarity to the role.
