Job Description

Overview The Head Golf Professional is responsible for overseeing the daily golf operations at Hemlock Golf Club. This position provides leadership for the golf shop and outside operations, manages tournaments and events, supervises golf staff, assists with merchandising and revenue generation, and serves as a primary point of contact for members of the Hemlock Golf Association (HGA), daily-fee players, tournament groups, and guests. The Head Golf Professional works closely with course management and the Golf Course Superintendent to ensure golf operations and course conditions are effectively coordinated. Experience Required N/A Essential Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities Manage the daily operation of the golf shop, including opening and closing procedures. Manage tee times, golfer check-in, greens fees, cart fees, and point-of-sale transactions. Provide excellent customer service to daily-fee golfers, HGA members, tournament participants, and guests. Answer golf shop phones and assist customers with tee times, tournament registration, course information, and general questions. Organize and administer HGA tournaments, club championships, leagues, outings, and other golf events. Prepare tournament materials including registration lists, pairings, scorecards, cart assignments, starting times, handicaps, scoring, results, and payouts. Coordinate tournament schedules and course setup requirements with the Golf Course Superintendent. Supervise, train, schedule, and provide direction to Assistant Golf Professionals, golf shop employees, cart attendants, starters, and rangers as applicable. Monitor pace of play and help maintain an organized and enjoyable experience on the golf course. Oversee golf cart operations and ensure carts are properly staged, maintained, cleaned, and available for play. Manage golf shop merchandise, including ordering, receiving, inventory control, pricing, displays, and sales. Assist management with golf-operation budgeting, revenue tracking, purchasing, payroll control, and expense management. Develop opportunities to increase rounds, tournament participation, merchandise sales, outings, and other golf-related revenue. Promote upcoming tournaments, HGA events, leagues, and other golf programs through signage, social media, email, and direct customer communication. Provide golf instruction, clinics, junior golf programs, and player-development opportunities when appropriate. Maintain tournament records, handicap information, tee sheets, sales records, and other golf-operation documentation. Address customer concerns professionally and make operational decisions when management is unavailable. Maintain a clean, organized, professional golf shop and golf-operation area.
