We are seeking a passionate and experienced retail store associate for Hampton Natural Foods, a health and wellness retail location in the seacoast community of Hampton, NH. This role requires someone with strong retail experience with a genuine interest in health and wellness and a general knowledge of supplements, herbal remedies, vitamins, and other clean products for enhancing body and mind. Hampton Natural Foods is a family-owned, independent health food store that has served the Seacoast since 1983. We carry natural and organic groceries, produce, frozen foods, bulk herbs and spices, gluten-free items, natural body care, and a wide range of vitamins, supplements and homeopathic remedies. Customers come back for our personal service, our special orders and staff who know the products. Key Responsibilities Register and checkout Greet every customer and ring up purchases accurately on the POS, including bulk and weighed items Handle cash, card and other payments; count the drawer at open and close and report any variances Process returns, special-order pickups and loyalty or discount programs per store policy Bag purchases with care, keeping cold, fragile and heavy items separate Customer service Help shoppers locate products and answer general questions about groceries, bulk foods and body care Take special-order and mail-order requests and pass them to the right team member Refer detailed supplement or health questions to a supplement-trained lead or manager; never give medical advice Answer the phone and respond to questions about hours, availability and orders Stocking and store upkeep Unload deliveries, check them against invoices and stock shelves, coolers and freezers Rotate product first-in, first-out; pull and log expired or damaged items Refill and clean bulk herb, spice and bin areas, keeping labels and pricing current Keep aisles, register, restrooms and entrance clean, safe and well-faced Opening, closing and teamwork Follow opening and closing checklists, including cash handling and security steps Support the café or kitchen area as needed (bussing, restocking, register for food orders) Flag low stock, customer requests and product issues to the manager Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Required 18+ years of age Friendly, patient and comfortable talking with customers all day Reliable, punctual and able to work the scheduled shifts, including some weekends Basic math and accurate cash handling Able to learn a POS system and follow store procedures Preferred 6+ months of retail, grocery or cashier experience Interest in natural foods, organic products, cooking or wellness Familiarity with gluten-free, vegan or other special diets Physical requirements Stand and walk for shifts of up to 5 hours Lift and carry up to 30 lbs regularly (cases, bulk bags) Bend, reach, climb a step stool and work in coolers and freezers for short periods Schedule Shifts fall within store hours, currently Mon-Sat, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm; hours may change within the coming months to support holiday hours. We're looking for 2 shifts per week, with availability on weekends / weekday afternoons preferred.
