This position has two very different sides. On Photo Shoot days, you'll work alongside our Lead Photographer, helping direct families and pets, manage groupings, watch wardrobe and presentation, create natural interaction and keep the session moving. On production days, you'll work at a Mac within our professional post-production workflow using Capture One, Phocus/Hasselblad and Adobe Photoshop. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys both: detailed digital production and confident, creative interaction with people and pets. On Photo Shoot Days Our Lead Photographer operates the camera. You'll help manage what happens in front of it.
You'll:
Direct families, individuals and pets with confidence Manage the shot list and required family groupings Read animal behavior and help pets become comfortable and engaged Create natural interaction, movement and genuine expressions Review wardrobe and make thoughtful styling recommendations Watch hair, clothing, jewelry, posture and other visual details Keep sessions organized, upbeat and moving efficiently Our photography has an emotional, lifestyle feeling. Your role is to help create the circumstances that allow genuine moments to happen. Digital & Post-Production A major part of this position is taking ownership of defined stages within our digital-production workflow.
You'll:
Work through Photo Shoot images in Capture One Evaluate exposure and make cropping decisions Work with Hasselblad files in Phocus Prepare and output photographs Organize image files and follow established file-management procedures Prepare photographs for the next stage of production Manage assigned workflow stages through completion We'll teach you the Willow Street Pictures workflow and company standards. This is not an advanced retouching position. What We're Looking For You don't need to come from another portrait studio. Relevant experience may come from photography, photo assisting, digital production, pet photography, veterinary or animal-care environments, animal handling or training, set/animal wrangling, or wardrobe/set styling. We're looking for: Professional or substantial real-world Mac experience Experience with professional photography or digital image-production software Strong attention to detail and file-management skills Confidence working directly with animals Strong communication and the confidence to direct people A good visual eye for wardrobe, styling and presentation The ability to learn and independently follow a detailed workflow Initiative, accountability and follow-through Experience with Capture One, Phocus/Hasselblad or Adobe Photoshop is especially relevant. Schedule & Location This is a full-time, Tuesday-through-Saturday, in-person position working at both our Harleysville and West Lawn, Pennsylvania studios. Some weeks involve more Photo Shoots and client interaction; others involve considerably more time working at a Mac. You need to genuinely enjoy both sides of the position.
