Zen Hills | Downtown Rapid City, South Dakota We're looking for someone reliable, creative, and independent to join our team at our downtown Rapid City store. This is a part-time associate position first and a creative position second. Most of your time will be spent running the store, helping customers, and working independently. In between customers, you'll also have the opportunity to work on graphic design projects, social media ideas, and other projects that help us grow. If you're someone who likes having a little variety in your day, enjoys working independently, and wants a job where you can actually contribute ideas instead of just following a script, we'd love to meet you. What You'll Do Store & Customer Service Run the store independently and provide friendly customer service Operate the register and help customers with questions Stock products and help maintain displays Assist with merchandising and keeping the store looking great Help with inventory counts and other basic store tasks Open or close the store when scheduled Pitch in wherever the business needs help Graphic Design Create simple, original artwork for Zen Hills products Develop designs that will be used on magnets, keychains, ornaments, souvenirs, and other products Create simple vector graphics and illustrations Modify and adapt existing artwork and templates Work with typography, layers, shapes, colors, and other basic design functions Turn ideas and concepts into finished artwork Work independently on small design projects from start to finish Social Media Help develop ideas and direction for our social media Help build and organize a social media calendar Come up with content ideas for Instagram and TikTok Take photos and videos around the store and with our products Help create short-form video and other social content Write captions and help organize content for posting Work with the owners to turn ideas into finished content You won't be expected to do all of this alone. We'll work with you on ideas, direction, and priorities, but we're looking for someone who can take a project and run with it rather than waiting to be told what to do at every step. Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is: Reliable and consistent. Showing up and following through matters a lot to us. Independent. You're comfortable working by yourself and finding things to do when the store isn't busy. Friendly and customer-focused. Customer service is more important than having a perfect design portfolio. Creative. You enjoy coming up with ideas and figuring out how to make them work. Flexible. We're a small business, which means the job can change from one hour to the next. Willing to learn. You don't need to know everything on day one. Comfortable taking direction but also willing to offer your own ideas. Retail or graphic design experience is helpful, but we care more about your ability, attitude, and reliability than having a long resume. Adobe Experience Hands-on experience with Adobe Illustrator is highly preferred. Experience with Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Express, or other Adobe programs is also helpful. You do not need to be a professional graphic designer. We are looking for someone who understands the basics of Illustrator and can actually use the program to create and modify artwork. You should be comfortable with things like layers, shapes, typography, vector graphics, colors, and basic file organization, and you should be able to learn new functions as needed. If you've never used Adobe Illustrator before, this probably isn't the right position for you. A portfolio is not required, but if you have design work you're proud of, we'd love to see it. Schedule & Opportunity This is a part-time position, generally 15-25 hours per week. Our typical schedule is approximately 10 AM-5 PM, generally Tuesday or Wednesday through Sunday. Weekend availability is required, although you will not necessarily be scheduled every weekend. We have some flexibility in scheduling and can work around school or other commitments for the right person. As you become more involved and demonstrate that you can take on additional responsibilities, there is an opportunity for additional hours and potentially a full-time position. The role can also expand as Zen Hills grows. About Zen Hills Zen Hills is a U.S. manufacturer specializing in specialty gifts and custom manufacturing. We design and produce unique products for souvenir shops, gift stores, and other retailers. Our products are designed and made in-house, and you'll have the opportunity to be part of that process. Your designs could eventually become products sold in stores throughout the country. We're a small, growing company, so this isn't a position where you'll have a perfectly defined list of tasks every day. You'll have a chance to work directly with the owners, contribute ideas, and help shape what the company becomes.
