Job Description

Job Summary At the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Habitat for Humanity our goal is to bring people together to help provide affordable housing in our community. The ReStore generates revenue through the sale of donated furniture, appliances, tools and building materials, and household items. .The SAW ReStore is seeking a friendly, hard-working, customer-service oriented individual with a good attitude. Full-Time ReStore Associate(s) are responsible for assisting the ReStore Director and ReStore Lead in all aspects of the store including but not limited to: customer service, sales register, lifting heavy donations (50-100lbs), driving donation truck and assisting with donation pick-ups, unload donations from the box truck(s) or customer vehicles, cleaning and processing donations. Scheduled days are Tuesday - Saturday, 5 days per week. (currently 8am-4:30pm) We are closed Sunday and Monday. Truck Driver Assistant Responsibilities Safely operate the ReStore donation truck(s) along scheduled routes to pick up donated furniture, appliances, building supplies, and other household items. Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly. Load, secure, transport, and unload donated items safely to prevent damage. (Using moving blankets, furniture movers/dollies, straps) Drive safely, obeying all traffic laws. Maintain a clean and organized truck. ReStore Associate Responsibilities When not scheduled for donation pickups, assisting in all aspects of daily ReStore operations Provide outstanding customer service by greeting customers and donors with a friendly and helpful attitude. Cleaning/Processing donations to be priced and put out on the sales floor for purchase Helping to clean and maintain the loading dock, processing area, and sales floor Operate the cash register efficiently, processing transactions accurately and handling cash responsibly Utilize phone etiquette when answering customer inquiries or directing calls Working alongside volunteers, community service, and Habitat partner families to ensure they are engaged and feel positive about their volunteer experience Participate as a team player with the ability to adapt to ever changing situations while maintaining a positive attitude Perform other duties and tasks as requested Skills/Experience Cash register operations Customer service skills This position requires the ability to lift heavy items 50-100 lbs (furniture, appliances, building supplies) on a regular basis Ability to work Saturdays (REQUIRED) Previous work experience in retail and a knowledge of antiques, furniture, appliances, and construction supplies is a plus Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen
