Summary

Under the supervision of the Manager in Charge, the Team Leader coordinates the activities of a group of employees, ensuring compliance with all safety, production, and quality standards. In addition, the Team Leader is responsible for operating equipment to produce a large variety of product in accordance with customer requirements and specifications. This includes both standard and custom-made products and parts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Support implementation of continuous improvement activities; maintains daily department metrics to prioritize activities.

Sets daily production plan by scheduling personnel within a given scope or assigned work center to achieve daily schedule.

Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs, scheduling with the utilization of internal resources.

Use training matrix headcount requirements to train, cross-train, develop and coach team members to maximize quality and output; provide regular updates on personnel capabilities and training progress.

Assure compliance with quality standards.

Instruct and monitor production employees' work practices and conformance with procedures.

Use software to perform material and shop floor related transactions.

Follow/create detailed instructions or blueprints, select resources, set up and operate machines.

Assist in design and provide for modifications as needed.

Create and maintain detailed job instructions.

Check first runs and subsequent pieces to ensure product meets company and customer specifications.

Set-up & program machines and compare against blueprint or template, and measure per inspection report.

Provide quality feedback to appropriate personnel when necessary.

Ensures machines are maintained per preventive maintenance manuals through regular audits; assigns personnel to perform preventive maintenance as needed.

Maintain an organized work environment based on 5-S principles; Sort, Scrub, Standardize, Set in Order and Sustain.

Maintain a safe and clean working environment; assist in injury investigation as needed.

Perform inventory & material supply functions as required.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Level of education usually acquired through completion of high school and three to five years experience of operating bending equipment. Strong math skills in geometry and trigonometry are necessary. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to accurately scan labor, check labor and provide for corrections.

Ability to operate overhead crane, aerial lift, forklift, hand trucks, and various bending machines.

Ability to read a write English, follow verbal and written instructions and use basic math, including, adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions.

Ability to measure (using ruler, tapes, height gauge, micrometer) and count accurately.

Ability to identify material sizes, lengths, dimensions, metal type, etc., usually acquired through 9-12 months of experience.

Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally to all levels within the organization.

Knowledge and skill to use computer and software to accomplish the duties of the position

Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritize work and lead team to accomplish goals.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to bend, stoop, climb ladders, balance and move about the facility. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. The Team Leader must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 70 pounds on an occasional basis.
